Publisher's summary

Every member of a family plays a vital role in the health and happiness of the household. Everyone is important, deserves to be treated with love and respect, and needs to know that when they make mistakes they will still be loved unconditionally. And when every member of the family is pulling for each other and on the same team, everybody wins. But is this kind of family life even possible?

Parenting expert Dr. Kevin Leman says it is, and he's ready to show moms and dads exactly how they can make it happen in their family - in just five days. He shows families how to:

  • Communicate honestly and kindly
  • Prioritize the right things
  • Maintain great attitudes and behaviors
  • Determine the role they play in the family structure
  • Make family time count

As always, Dr. Leman's outstanding advice is laced with humor, great stories, and the wisdom that comes only from a lifetime of experience.

For parents who've had it up to here with bickering, hurt feelings, and emotional exhaustion, Have a Happy Family by Friday is just what the doctor ordered.

Not an ounce of useful information

Ugh, I could hardly stand to listen to this long enough to be able to leave this review. It was so cringey. It struck me as a narcissist, gaslighting his readers into believing he knows what he’s talking about. Not only is author is condescending, but he frequently gives these narrative examples….lets say your kid came to you and said [this], instead of saying ‘that’s the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard’ or ‘you must be really dumb,’ try saying ‘tell me more about that.’ Any parent who actually spoke to their child like this would not be the kind of parent that would listen to this book. Then in chapter 2, he references the bonus material at the end that you have to skip to and listen before going to chapter 3. The bonus material is all about his other book about birth order. The birth order chapter was complete garbage and not at all representative of any family I’ve ever met. First born this, second born that. I did not find one shred of useful information in this book, and he especially lost me when he mentioned his wife was ‘lucky to be married to him’ for 47 years.
