Publisher's Summary

In 2006, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) held an open forum at the Fox Theater in Atlanta to address the subject: "Has Christianity Failed You?" Tickets were sold for the event and---to the complete surprise of everyone---the event was sold out, with a capacity crowd of over 5,000. People lined up, offering to buy tickets from folks in line for higher prices.

Before the event, an RZIM cameraman walked the streets and asked people if they had rejected the faith they held at one time. One answered that, because of a Christian's rejection of his gay lifestyle, he had done just that. Another answered that she had left her faith because she had fallen into adultery and could never live it down in the church. Others had their own reasons. Some said it was just intellectually untenable in an age of reason. They chose to come to the event to judge if there were adequate answers.

It is estimated that for every one person who writes a letter or attends an event, there are one thousand who agree. If the Atlanta crowd was any indication, the question is real and troubling. Why is it that many live with silent doubt, many leaving the "evangelical fold" for something else? Is there something wrong with the message, the communicator, the hearer...or is it all three? It's time to ask the hard questions of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and why it seems as though God has made it so hard to continue believing. In fact, the son of a prominent U.S. Senator phoned me with that very question: "Why has God made it so hard to believe in Him?" Such skepticism is not just representative of the hostile; it also represents many honest questioners. This book attempts to lay out the response to those within as well as those outside the Christian faith so as to understand what it is we believe and why it is so hard to do so.

"I am a new big fan of Ravi Zacharias!"

Heard him on the radio while channel surfing. Then had to look him up. This was my first introduction to apologetic s and I feel that it really helped me understand my christian faith even though I have been a Christian for a long time. Shared the information with my 30 year old daughter and her husband and they were amazed on the way he presented the information about defending the Christian faith. If you have an i-tunes account there is a lot of free lectures by him and other apologetics Christian leaders.

"Health Wealth and Prosperity doctrine watch out"

This book tackles the false doctrine of health wealth and prosperity and brings the readers or listeners back to the Biblical doctrine and away from Americanized doctrine. Also faces head on the new atheist movement and debunks their theories. Great anointed work. Ravi Zacharias never lets me down!

    "Would recommend"

The book is by Ravi Zacharias and thus is worth going through. His break down of ideas and comprehensive walk through of faith, pain and struggle, and the church are well done and greatly applicable to everyone whether you struggle or not with these things. (If you don't now, you will)

As a reader of an audio book, he does well. Through his time as a speaker he brings to the project the experience that comes with his life's work. Going into it know that the book isn't a work of fiction and Ravi doesn't read like it is one.
What I mean by that is that he doesn't read to move you with his voice but to speak truth to you. He is ministering and letting God move through the words. (Believe that or don't, it's no skin off my bones)

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in growing or understanding. Anyone looking to learn. Like I said earlier, this book is worth reading no matter where you are in life.
Just be ready to think when you dive into it ;)

The book contains many great principles. Seems to fall somewhat short in answering the question posed in the title however.

This book is undoubtedly true, and it is not only a study of history, culture, and truth, but a profound look into philosophy and God.

    "fascinating insight!"

Zacharias is one of those rare speakers whose knowledge of his subject is so great that his speeches read like a book!

Wherever you are in your spiritual journey you can benefit from this book for it gives rational, intelligent, reasons for the Christian faith, not to judge folk, not to shame folk, but to answer the honest questions you might have on this faith.

If you are just angry, intelligent reasoning will not assuage you. If you hate the idea of Faith period, this book will not open your heart toward it. If, like me, you just want great reasoning for the faith of our fathers, you will love this book.

    "Powerful!"

The author has, in his usual intelligent response to our pitiful excuses for how Christianity has failed or is not worth following, quieted our challenges with the intelligence of the truth. A must read for leaders and laypersons alike. Loved it.

It was well written in such a way that it was easy to comprehend and analyze. It was supported very well with truths and illustrations that supported each claim and fact.

    "Loved it"

Absolutely loved this. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm very pleased. This book goes deep into some core areas of Christianity, in an interesting way. I can't really explain it, you'll have to check it out yourself to find out.
