Publisher's summary

We all yearn to look back to find we lived a life of significance. But is it even possible anymore? Considering the amount of distraction and pressure that exists in society today, living a fulfilling life may seem like an unachievable dream. But it is not - not with the nine habits outlined in this book. New York Times best-selling author and widely known blogger Rachel Macy Stafford reveals nine habits that help you focus on investing in the most significant parts of your life. As your hands, heart, and eyes become open, you will experience a new sense of urgency - an urgency to live, love, dream, connect, create, forgive, and flourish despite the distractions of our culture. By following each daily Hands Free Declaration, you will be inspired to adopt mindful daily practices and new thought processes that will help you:

  • Make meaningful, lasting human connections despite the busyness of everyday life.
  • Live in the now despite that inner nudge pushing you out of the moment toward perfection and productivity.
  • Protect your most sacred relationships as well as your values, beliefs, health, and happiness despite the latent dangers of technology and social media.
  • Pursue the passions of your heart without sacrificing your job or your daily responsibilities.
  • Evaluate your daily choices to insure you are investing in a life that matters to you.

With a Hands Free Life perspective, you will have the power to look back and see you didn't just manage life; you actually lived it - and lived it well.

Wow! thank you for this blessing of a book!

this book... so easy to digest, easy to listen to and absolutely captivating. many tears fell, many chuckles came from my heart as I listened to this during my morning exercises. Thank you Rachel for your observations and beautifully presented words and thank you Jaimee for your beautiful voice making the package ever sweeter! I recommend this book to any, especially parents who need to be reminded how fleeting time is and how precious their children are.
You make me want to be better at Living, Loving fully and at Being Me...

the world needs you to be yourself... that is the most precious gift God has given to all of us.

Loved it!

I have been feeling the pull to put the phone down and live my life all year. I am tired of scrolling through other people's lives on Facebook while mine passed me by. This book reinforced that feeling and gave me strength to let go and let God with open hands and an open heart ❤

sounds fake

Though I appreciate her emotional attachment to life and her children, I feel the author is redundant in her expression of those emotions. Not only does she emote so much and use the same words, but she is stepping Lee sweet. This would be admirable except that when listening to it on audio it's just more than I can handle.

Unexpected joy.

I don't write a lot of reviews. I am an avid audio book listener who hangs out almost exclusively in the sci-fi fantasy category. But, each Spring I find myself enjoying self help books from organization, to procrastination, to affirmation, optimization. I find Spring the perfect time to clean up my act, focus my muzzy Winter brain, and seek once again clarity. So in light of that, imagine my unexpected joy in listening not to a 9 step plan carefully outlined to cultivate a habit of less screen time but instead a deeply moving examination of what truly matters.

Great Encouragement

Excellent book for the young married and those with young children. I am neither but still enjoyed the push to live a hands free life.

Excellent!

What made the experience of listening to Hands Free Life the most enjoyable?

This was an easy listen- the voice was pleasing and the story moved quickly. Lots of gems in here.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didn't listen all in one sitting, but I did listen all within a week, which is rare for me. Usually I get bored halfway through a book, but I enjoyed this one all the way to the end!

Any additional comments?

The book moves quickly and tells a nice story with lots of shorter stories. It was quite validating in my daily life, encouraging readers/listeners to focus more on living life than keeping up with life. Very inspirational.

Good nuggets

The book was full of good nuggets. Yet overall I found it had a sing song nature to it. Where was the balance? How do you live and teach hands free while also respecting your own needs? I felt the book was lopsided.
