when the good guy is not so good

Loved this episode. The most poignant part looked at fantasies as a manifestation or code for the problem and the solution A++++++

Pleasure vs duty

A misguided caregiver leads an ascetic life based on guilt about pleasure and guilt being comfortable. This one was a tough one to untangle.

Wow, this is powerful stuff.

This work goes very deep. Madame Perel is giving us a all a wonderful gift, the chance to listen in (appropriately) to another couples therapy session. Her TED Talks are also amazing though I haven't started any of her books, yet.

Mission Impossible

I struggled to complete this. The guy here is a frustrated wannabe priest. I almost think he chose her as a polar opposite so he could low-key "save" her.

Another tediously mismatched pair

After 45 minutes the guy asks aloud, Why are we together? And I’ve been wondering that all along! She seems like a decent enough person wasting her time with a neurotic martyr do-gooder who probably should have stayed on the path to ordination. What leapt our for me was when he said he feels guilty loving and attending to one individual person because he ought to be loving the world and meeting the needs of many people... that is the logic of holy celibacy. Which is fine, and I hope hearing themselves helps them both realize their incompatibility.
