A starter

This is a fine introduction for people would like to know more about lucid dreaming. Don't expect an elaborate 'how to' book. It will give you the background you need to get started and point you in the right direction, however. Enjoy!

Salient information about dreams

I've been going through the audiobooks available on Audible on Lucid Dreaming, and while this book isn't specifically focused on that exact topic, it proves to be very useful and to-the-point with regard to dreams. It's very handy when someone who has spent years studying scientifically a subject writes a one-hour book on what they've learned and gives suggestions. There is information here that wasn't in the Lucid Dreaming audiobooks I've listened to so far, and it is helpful and usable information.

It would be wonderful to have Stephen LaBerge's books specifically on Lucid Dreaming available on audiobooks - his books are referred to by the authors of other Lucid Dreaming books - as he is a main resource mentioned by many people interested in Lucid Dreaming and highly respected for his work and his books are often recommended.

This short exposure to his work makes me eager to read more of his books, and I hope they will be available in audio form in the future.

Author Having a Dream

What disappointed you about Controlling Your Dreams?

What a disappointment! The PhD reading the book skipped right into Lucid Dreaming (knowing that you're dreaming while you dream) without explaining how a person can become aware of a dream while asleep. That was the whole reason I bought this book and I got scammed. Like many supposed experts, he missed the mark by miles.

What was most disappointing about Stephen LaBerge’s story?

Failed to provide the essence of his book, which was to teach readers how they can become aware of a dream (convert a dream into a lucid dream) through techniques, exercises, etc.

What didn’t you like about Stephen LaBerge’s performance?

I'm happy the author can have lucid dreams at will, but most of us have dreams that normally we don't control. He never tells you how he obtains the control of his dreams, thus converting them into lucid dreams.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. Now I must continue searching for other books that hopefully will answer my question: how can I convert a normal dream into a lucid dream?

Any additional comments?

It is very frustrating and this is not the first time that I have purchased a book about an "expert" in which the author misses the main point entirely. They must be so good that they forget how they got there in the first place. I would love to refund this book. It is worthless.

Lucid dreaming is Real & powerful

Stephan laberge provides a rational, educated, and detailed explanation of what lucid dreaming is, and how anyone can achieve them. the audio book is read with enthusiasm and energy, and you can tell the author has been to the places he is describing. reading his book I've had some of the most vivid and long-lived lucid dreams. At 26, I thought my days of dreaming were done, but it looks like they're just getting started.

I already knew this

I did not know what lucid dreaming was until I read this book. According to it, it is to know that you are dreaming when you are dreaming. I always know this. But this book teaches you the teaqniques to be able to know that you are dreaming when you are.

It says that you can chose your dream. F.eks. 1850 in iceland. And it will appear in the dream if you ask for.

For me. I can fly in my dreams. I can call someones name, and he will appear in my dream. It is recomanded to use lucid dreams to face your fears. When you have nightmares.. realise you are having one and face the monster. Ask yourself in the dream, what that can be.

I gave it only 3 stars cause I knew so much about this before, it is great to know for people who are interested about dreams, but not if you want to solve your dreams.

MOST EXCELLENT

A difficult concept made easy by not just an expert in the realm of LUCID DREAMING but also a poineer. Briefly tackling the concept of dreaming, obliterating myths, elaborating on facts about dreaming, coupled with practical applications, Dr. Laberge simplifies the complicated. It's an excellent starting point for those interested in exploring their dream and enhancing their lives.

Doesn't play

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Overall I would give it 0 stars. I can't open the file on my computer and get it to play. Why couldn't you just make it an MP3 like a normal person would?
