Publisher's summary

"Words are a big deal. They are containers for power, and we have to decide what kind of power we want our words to carry," says Joyce Meyer in Change Your Words, Change Your Life. "I believe that our words can increase or decrease our level of joy. They can affect the answers to our prayers and have a positive or negative effect on our future.... One might say that our words are a movie screen that reveals what we have been thinking and the attitudes we have."

Building on the premises of Power Thoughts and Living Beyond Your Emotions, she examines the tremendous power of words - which are the vehicles that convey our thoughts and emotions - and provides a series of guidelines for making sure that our talk is constructive, healthy, healing, and used to good results. Topics include:

  • The impact of words
  • How to tame your tongue
  • How to be happy
  • When to talk and when not to talk
  • Speaking faith and not fear
  • The corrosion of complaints
  • Do you really have to give your opinion?
  • The importance of keeping your word
  • The power of speaking God's word
  • How to have a smart mouth

In a "Dictionary of God's Word" at the end of the book, Joyce provides dozens of scripture verses, arranged by topic, that she recommends reading and saying out loud as one way of using and claiming healing words.

It changed my life!

If you could sum up Change Your Words, Change Your Life in three words, what would they be?

Great reference book!

What other book might you compare Change Your Words, Change Your Life to and why?

Nothing like it.

What about Sandra McCollom’s performance did you like?

Everything.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The story about the lady that stopped playing the piano, than returned after years of not playing.

Any additional comments?

Joyce Meyers is probably the best "truth" story teller of all times, Sandra McCollom delivered it well.

A religious book

Any additional comments?

In fact, it's not fair for me to rate this book. I'd just like to emphasis that the book is highly religious (with a lot of quote from Bible, the original of power is from God and we need to rely on his holiness to change, etc); therefore, you may enjoy it a lot if you're a believer.

However, if you're not a Christian or Catholic, this book is just not your cup of tea.

I think Joyce Meyer is famous in North America and everybody knows what she's preaching. Therefore, this comment is for those who are not familiar with N.A.'s celebrity.

Truly Life Changing

This book IS truly life changing. It is thought provoking, practical and helpful. I especially liked that Joyce took the time to include several lists of confessions, declarations and convictions to help me use and recall the lessons. I am grateful indeed for the useful guidance. Thank you Joyce !

Wisdom Based On Kingdom Principals

I really enjoyed how Pastor Meyers makes her wisdom relatable in this book. She not only shares personal shortcomings but acknowledges how growth is an ongoing process.

I extremely enjoyed the appendix. Referencing God's promises for our life. Making it clear that we alone are not perfect. However are made perfect through the unlimite sacrifice made for us.

Completely shocked, but pleasantly surprised

I purchased this book not knowing who the author was, so I didn't know she was a Christian speaker. The book description doesn't mention that this book is extremely biblical based, so I was completely shocked when I started hearing scripture after scripture blaring out of my car stereo. I'm a new Christian and have been getting more heavily involved with the Word, so it was a pleasant surprise for me, but I can imagine that one who wasn't expecting this and is NOT a Christian would probably be pretty ticked.

That said, I absolutely love the book. I find the scripture references particularly helpful since I am not all that familiar with the Bible and would have no clue where to look for some of these things.

Overall, I would say it's probably going to be a big life changer for me.

(On a side note, the speaker sounds like she's from Boston...it's not overly annoying, but it's not the most pleasant listening experience... no offense to Bostonians.)
