Publisher's summary

In the 1980s, editor Lee Eisenberg redefined Esquire magazine and positioned it for its phenomenal popularity. In the '90s, he took on what was perhaps an even more daunting task: to devote 18 months of his life to the mastery of golf. Breaking Eighty is a witty and practical golf guide that resulted from his crash course, told uniquely not from a teacher's point of view, but from a learner's. Millions of weekend hackers will delight in Eisenberg's pursuit of golf's holy grail: the elegant, effective, and repeatable swing.

Breaking 80

I expected a little bit more from the book, I suppose I wanted to know if there were any breakthroughs in the swing that the author went through in the process of breaking 80.

In the end, the author went from swing to swing, never really experienced a breakthrough and never broke 80.

I did like the story, just looked for a little more.

Best Hacker Book Available

This is a great book for the average golfer because the author is an average golfer (maybe even worse than average). His anecdotes and experience with the game are sure to make even the most frustrated duffer smile. It's the most enjoyable golf book available.

Terrific Journey...

Narrated nicely. I was so glad that the ending was as it was. I won't give it away but I managed to find myself guessing wrong at each turn in the development of the swing on the road to breaking eighty.
