Publisher's Summary

Tired of Bullshit Holding You Back from the Greatness You Deserve?

Whether it's bullshit excuses, limiting belief systems, or the hidden blind spots created by a biased brain keeping you stuck in mediocrity, the barrier of BS is the reason the current reality of your life pales in comparison to the potential possibility of the greatness you were made for.

Part poetry, part smart-ass humor, and a heavy dose of practical empowerment, Break Through Your BS is the sobering slap across the face and the compassionate kick in the ass you've been needing to finally wake up and stop letting your BS hold you back.

Are You Willing to Play?

This book is a game. A journey. An experience where you'll discover....

  • How going after what you want is the very thing that keeps you from getting it.
  • The most common mental traps smart people fall for - and why your intelligence can be your greatest enemy.
  • A simple mental switch you can flip that turns fear into your friend, allowing fear to propel you toward your goals rather than push you away from them.
  • The myth of independence and how your desire for self-sufficiency is keeping you from true empowerment.
  • One mental distinction unlike anything you've ever heard that automatically moves you into a growth and progress mind-set from a perfectionist, fixed mind-set.
  • Why you will never get rid of your BS and why you should rejoice in that fact.
  • And more...

So Now You Have a Choice....

Would you rather be bound by your BS or use this book as but one tool to help you discover how to unleash your greatness?

The choice is yours....

    "You'll need a shovel...."

The author has a brilliant approach to exposing your BS. In fact, you're left with no choice except to acknowledge its existence and then what you do from there is up to you. You aren't left hanging, quite the opposite, you'll know the next steps to take.
The information is awesome, but the brilliance is really in the delivery. The passion of the author comes through and tagged with the occasional joke here and there, it keeps the energy and flow going in such a way that it's as entertaining as it is educational.
You'll be shoveling through your BS and living a more enlightened existence in no time.

    "Very Revealing"

Loved it! It was almost as if he were a better version of me who could decipher and expound upon ancient wisdom passed down from all different resources! He elaborated and related ideas on a more practical level than most other authors of self-help books I've read!

    "What I needed to hear"

Absolutely loved this book. The hilarious moments were a great plus for me. It's unique and exactly the kind of book I needed at the right time. I will definitely be re-listening throughout time or when/if I get stuck in my mind with my own bullshit. Thank you Derek for writing and sharing this book!

"Best book I've read -- maybe in my life!"

Derek captures the essence of what each of us secretly wants to know about eliminating our BS stories and becoming real in a very clear, concise, take-no-prisoners kind of way. This book is about learning to become an adult human being who can BE, at all times, his/her greatest self. I will listen to this book over and over again, and I will recommend it to anyone who sincerely wants to create a great life!

"Look @ how the world sees our BS, & our disguising"

A Look @ how the world sees our BS, & our disguising it. The fact that the author narrated the book speaks volumes of its quality & ability.

Although it's a good book potentially deserving of all 5 stars- no book is that perfect except Al-Quran.

"This truly shows how powerful the mind is"

Being able to recognize, redirect and avoid obstacles is a great skill. but being able to do the same thing within ones self is an awesome feat. This work helps you do that in an entertaining and direct way. Breaking though your BS will give you an understanding that will help you get through the traps that you set for yourself.

    "Overwrought"

This audiobook has some decent points, sits in a basis of Buddhism and living in the now.

Unfortunately, Derek Doepker's narration is overwrought and overacted. When he strives to make a point, his tone and volume rises like a bad community theater actor who equates an important soliloquy to voice volume. Likewise, when he feels his point is made and to let it sink in, he gets artificially intimate.

All in all, the narration takes away from some pretty simple and — yes — useful stuff. But the performance itself is really distracting. At times, it feels like he's auditioning for the role of a motivational speaker.

I kept thinking it would get better, that he would relax into the information. He doesn't. Had to bail halfway through.

    "Great book, too many #'s"

Excellent information, forces you to see things in many different ways. If you are willing to receive the information it will expand you and your thought process in a very healthy positive way.

The author tries to be a little hip , snarky and funny and it takes away from / interferes with the overall message. Which is great I might add.

#get rid of the hashtags and stop talking like my 16 year old daughter #just sayin'

    "Man this is crap"

Where do I start. First, I took a chance on this book after some positive reviews. I really think those reviews were either paid for or friends of the author. This author really doesn't bring anything new to the table. I have listened to half of this, and can honestly say, if you purchased this book, you will be disappointed. The author is nothing more than a 15 or 16 year old with all of his "hashtags". No one can be taken seriously that consistently has hashtag in their writing. Maybe one or two, but this is overkill. The author has to use cursing to make his point (not a prude) but really! He also probably should not have read his own book, but maybe he offered it to someone else, and they declined because of content. There is so much wrong with this book that it would take a full page. If you buy this book, don't say you weren't warned.

    "Nothing new"

Derek is a smart guy and I share most of his view points but I didn't finish this book feeling as though I'd learnt anything new (I feel that I'm more enlightened than most, so maybe this would be more helpful to someone who hasn't properly reflected on these topics). Still, always good to be reminded of the things he mentions here in his book. Thank you Derek! Good listen!
