  • Purpose: What purpose does this serve in my life?

Painful Experience

what sounds like a great title... never comes into being. The author just talks about herself over and over. She offers little to no substantive authority on the subject matter... basically she says “ get yourself psyched up and don’t quit... and welcome the angles and God in to provide you with inspiration”... just awful. I’m sure the author is kind and has talents... but this book is a hot mess. Obviously... I would not recommend. .

Thanks June--you made a difference in my life

I had already read June's book--so I already knew her approach to life and decluttering. She is so enthusiastic and positive--I love listening to this book on my way to teach high school every morning. Very uplifting.

There are a few parts that don't apply to my life situation--so I just skip through those chapters. The best part has been thinking about the meaning of stuff in my house and thinking about why I'm keeping it and what it represents. Thanks for helping me to start the journey toward loving myself, my life and my stuff.

Talking about herself

This decluttering book seemed more an avenue for the author to declutter all of her thoughts and memories of her own life than a book to help others. While I recognize that sharing insights from what you have learned on your own clutter-free journey with others can be useful, this book used the word "I" so many times it made me feel as if the author wrote the book to indulge herself instead to help the reader. I also recognize that knowing you aren't the only one with clutter is helpful, and hearing about the path others have traversed can be useful if you find commonalities with their situation, but honestly, I found very little in the time I spent trying to find something I could be inspired by that was inspirational or directional. I am sorry, but honestly, there are much more useful de-cluttering, simplifying, and organizing books out there. Put those words in the search bar and find something else to help you clean out your closet, your house, or your brain. I'd have to say the author did a decent job of clearly reading her own words, however, the pace was too fast and without much feeling. It did not feel like a conversation between friends...more like a hurried recitation. Maybe someone else will enjoy listening to this, but the constant "I" usage bothered me after awhile. Things like this are supposed to be about helping YOU clear your clutter, not just about the author's journey. I will be trying to get a refund on this one.

Could be much shorter

Much of the content is repeated over and over. Book could be about a third shorter if it didn't include so many of the authors personal irrelevant stories. I would not have been able to finish the book if I had read it, but I did complete the audio version. Only learned maybe one or two points. Don't listen to while driving. It might put you to sleep!
