Publisher's Summary

An audiobook that talks to guys in the way guys talk! Having a pulse is all it really takes to fall in love. Staying in love is another matter; staying in love requires a plan and some learned skills. "My primary audience for this book is guys (sorry, sneaky ladies)," says author Doug Fields. "I am writing in a way that most men seem to talk and learn." In 7 Ways to Be Her Hero, Fields gives, quite candidly, seven very doable actions to transform any marital relationship, guaranteed. It also includes a bonus chapter for guys to listen to with their wives. So if you want to understand some simple ways to invest in your marriage and be your wife’s hero (again), this is the plan!

This was an easy and relatable listen!

This made me see that I am not alone in my ignorance of marriage and provided valuable tips and tools to transform myself into a better husband. I pray I am not receiving these lessons too late.
A highly recommended read/listen!

Must read for the Christian Father, Husband & Man

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've actually had the privilege of listening to Doug Fields live at my church in Gilbert, AZ(Mission Community Church), and let me tell you the narrating was spot on! He's a lot of fun to listen to and the jokes he has about the struggles of being a Christian man in todays society make this a fun read/listen. It teaches you how to honor God & your spouse in a society that unfortunately places non-realistic expectations on Christian men and it provides help on how to avoid burning out in your marriage while trying to build everlasting love in your relationship... I'll read this again I'm sure!! There was a lot of good information and almost impossible to retain all of it. The lessons contained in each chapter were things that you could apply to your situation immediately. In closing I just want to say Thank You to Mr. Doug Fields...You've helped me more than you'll ever know.

Bible thumping and repetitive

I bought this as an audio book because it seemed to be one of the few on the subject that were not all about God and the Bible. I was wrong... it starts out that way, but by the second chapter the author is quoting the Bible. The fourth and all subsequent chapters are pretty much all about emulating Jesus, God’s design for marriage, god this and Jesus that.

The author tries way to hard to be “one of the guys”. The chapters are twice as long as necessary because they are filled with “guy talk”. He rehashes every subject over and over in various “guy talk” ways.

In an attempt to connect with his male audience all but one chapters talk about sex in one of two ways. Either A: all men want is sex and more of it. Or B: listen to me and you will get more sex. He did admit at one point he wanted the title of the book to be “how to get more sex” or something along those lines. I, unfortunately, judged the book by its cover and was hoping for help in becoming my wife’s hero. Instead I got seven ways to get more sex, not an issue we have thankfully.

Lastly, the author must use the phrase “guys suck” 30 times in the book. I didn’t buy this to get told repeatedly that men are horrible humans and we suck at everything.

opinion from an unmarried man

This book was wonderful. I am an unmarried young man, but I have been reading a bunch of marriage counselling books as well as books on the man's role, I have also spoken with many married couples of 10+ years and this book has been the most practical piece of advice I've received (as well as saving your marriage before it starts) . I've been saying my girlfriend for a year and have begun implementing since of these tips into our relationship with great results.

The portions on sexual intimacy are a little uncomfortable to read as an unmarried man deciding to stay pure until the alter but no doubt will price helpful in marriage one day.

Listening on a loop!

There is so much info, and so much I want to work on. I'll just have to keep listening over and over to put into practice all the different corrective actions.
