Publisher's Summary

Driven by her lifelong interest in the practice of mindfulness and her commitment to the welfare of children everywhere, Goldie Hawn established the Hawn Foundation to support research into developing ways of helping children become healthy and eager learners who can reach their full potential. The program developed by her foundation, MindUP, now used by educators around the world, teaches children how their minds work and how their thoughts and feelings affect their behavior. It gives them the social and emotional tools to help them deal with stress and negative feelings, calm their minds, remain focused, develop compassion and empathy for others - and, ultimately, be happy.

As practical as it is inspiring, 10 Mindful Minutes embodies the essence of the incredible success of the MindUP program with its simple techniques like mindful breathing, sensing, and thinking. In easy-to-follow steps, it shows parents and children alike how to focus on feelings of gratitude, kindness, and optimism that will improve interpersonal relationships, increase performance through better concentration, and lead to emotionally healthy and happy lives.

Teaching Our Children to Help Themselves Be Happy: Across the country, the revolutionary MindUP program, which was developed under the auspices of the Hawn Foundation, is teaching children vital social and emotional skills, empowering them to manage and reduce their own stress - and helping them be happy. Now, for the first time, its secrets are being shared with all parents and children in 10 Mindful Minutes.

This book is excellent, seriously.

I used to laugh at Goldie Hawn but I'm not laughing now. Who knew she was such an intellectual? I've read more books on mindfulness and neuroscience than I can count, very few of them are as good as this one. Thanks Goldie!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love, love this audible. I have and will continue to recommend this audiobook. The content is wonderful and Goldie Hawn is brilliant in her delivery. My hope would be that we can get this program in to our schools. Thank you Goldie for putting your heart into such a wonderful program.

Really good if you are Goldie Hawn

All informations were relevant.
There are stories from Goldie Hawn's personal life. If you are her fun, it's good.
Information given is rather repeat of Daniel Siegel's books.

Breadth but not so much depth

If you are looking for an excellent book about teaching children mindfulness I do not recommend this nearly as much as I recommend the mindful child by Susan Kaiser Greenland. I didn't learn much new material in listening to this book by Goldie Hawn. I learned much new and was guided in many ways, on the other hand, by the book The Mindful Child. Without reservation, I would get The Mindful Child instead of this book if you really want tools for teaching children mindfulness as a way of life

Lots of good ideas for working with children

Good overall. Lots of good, if basic, mindfulness concepts.
No real new ideas here but the book is 6 years old at the point and I'm sure this was fresh stuff in 2011.

I found Ms. Hawn's readings to by overly mellow dramatic.

10 Mindful Minutes

I didn't pay attention when I bought this book. When I understood that was written by the actress Goldie Hawn I thought I wouldn't be interested. But I gave it a try and it surprised me. A good book, well based in researches and with many good doctors/ psychologists as feed backers.
