Didn't Seem Edited At All, Would've Been Enjoyable If It Were Edited, Unfortunate End To A Great Performer..

Story telling

Overall I’d give this story a 3.5, the narrator was not terrible, but there were moments where I found myself zoning out, or dozing off. The actual story and insight into Selena’s life and background that was not made clear or mentioned in the movie is appreciated though.

Editing!

Love this book and the author’s delivery. However, this audio needs editing. The mistakes and re-reads are not taken out and it’s quite distracting. A simple edit to remove mistakes would make a world of difference for the performance.

The story was great , but the person reading it was horrible! This was not edited and he repeated a sentence 2 or 3 times.

Great Historical Accounting of Selena’s Brief Life

The story is written well, and full of details, about Selena, her family and the moments that turns her into a star, and then brought upon her untimely end. The story was originally written in 1996, and recently turned into an audible book. The audiobook seems like it was produced in a budget. There is no editing as another reviewer mentioned. The author rereads his mistakes.... at first I found it annoying. Then I looked up who the author was... and learned that he’s not a major author... but is passionate about writing about his home state of Texas... so I kept listening. I think it’s important to support the underdogs. I wasn’t disappointed... I learned a lot about Selena and her story. In the end... with no editing.... it’s pretty amazing how few mistakes the author made. Definitely give this book a try.

Great story, disappointing audiobook

I was thrilled to see this available as an audiobook. The performance is lacking, though, much to my disappointment. The author is the narrator and he stops and starts over frequently, stumbles over a few words and even coughs. I’m not sure what level of quality Audible looks for when including books in their library but this one was a huge disappointment.

i don't understand how this happens

how does an entire audiobook get published without a single listen-through to edit? I usually love when the author narrates but this is definitely not one of those times. listening to him struggle with Spanish names and words, giving several tries sometimes, and NONE of it being edited out, was painful. the audiobook would probably be an entire hour shorter after just one basic first draft edit. Selena deserves better effort than this.
