Publisher's Summary

I want to trust him. I just don’t know how.

My life might not be conventional, but I’ve got it together. I own a successful tattoo business. I’ve got investments. I’ve got my brothers in the Falcon Grim Motorcycle Club.

...and I’ve got my old bedroom at my parents’ house in my tiny hometown, because after a bar fight with a rival MC went to hell, I need a place to lay low for a while. Perks of coming home? Victor Savage. He’s older than me, he’s hot as hell, and to be honest, he’s always been able to light my candle, if you know what I mean.

Helping Victor to save his family distillery is the definition of mixing business with pleasure. But I can’t get too comfortable. The past has a way of coming back to bite you, and between the outlaw bikers gunning for my head and Victor’s twin trying to steal his business straight out from under him, I’ve got a choice to make.

If I let him in under the wire, we can stand together.

Or we can crumble apart.

Good listen

I liked this new one from JP Oliver...it had interesting characters and a darker plot but the narration just didn't grab me. I though the voices were a little odd and the narrator talked very slowly.

You are more intoxicating than any alcohol

This is a story about man finding love while hiding from his troubles and his enemy. Adrian has always had a crush on Victor even in their high school days. When he ran into him when going back to his hometown, he was really happy. Meanwhile, Victor isn’t without his own problems. His family distillery is having problems and he has to sort of the issues left by his evil brother. Adrian decided to help Victor and they ended up dating in the end. While they are having their honeymoon period, the MC who’s after Adrian found him and Victor’s family is also really against the two of them being together. These men have to go ground hell and high water to get their happily ever after.

Action-packed and exciting and quite romantic at times. I enjoyed this book and the previous book in the series. Small town romances are really comfy and enjoyable.

Broome's Books Review

Adrian comes home to North Creek, Tennessee to lay low. Victor is trying to run the family business while dealing with the illness his father is facing. Adrian and Victor happening across each other in the grocery store set their romance into motion.

Their path to love isn’t easy. Drama and suspense follow the pair throughout. The evil twin aspect made it feel like a made for tv movie.

Like a few other listeners, I had a difficult time with the narrator. He sounded lackadaisical and not invested in the story.

4.5 rounded up

I struggled with the narrator at first, but it resolved quickly - so it was probably just my mood at the moment or needed adjustment time. Overall, the narrator was good.

I enjoyed the story. A lot was going on, but it was handled well. There were a few scrunch my brow moments, but nothing I had to stop and listen again or overly think about. They made a good couple, and I was invested and rooting for the relationship.

It’s an overall recommend.

Book 2 of Hometown Heros Series

This is book 2 in the Hometown Heros series. I did not realize this was book 2 (as I have not listened to book one) until I realized there was a back story on some characters I wanted to know more about and was delighted to find out there was already another book in this series (note, I received this ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review so did not realize at the start it was the second in a series). That being said, it was easy to follow along and is considered a standalone book by itself. The author develops the characters and story-line well. Adrian and Victor knew each other when they were young. Adrian needs to lie low and returns to stay at his parents house. Victor and Adrian renew their acquaintance in the local bar. Some hotness ensues and their story is filled with lots of excitement and is fast paced, which I love (no boring bits here!). The narration was spot on. I can't wait for more in this series!

Seeking Sanctuary Finding Love

Seeking Sanctuary is the second book in the Hometown Heroes series. It takes place primarily in North Creek, Tennessee but there are some scenes in Nashville, Tennessee. You technically don’t have to read the first book to understand this one, but I recommend it.

I liked Seeking Sanctuary much more than Finding Refuge, but I think it’s because I’m already invested in the characters. J.P. Oliver does a really great job of making you fall in love with the characters both primary and secondary ones. Like Finding Refuge, Seeking Sanctuary focuses on the Savage-Cross family and expands on the evil brother/evil twin overall arching series plot.

Victor Savage is trying to run his family’s distillery while also dealing with the fallout from his sick father’s neglect of the business. It’s a pretty stressful situation Victor finds himself as he tries to get the finances in order for the business while watching his father slowly die from cancer. Throw in the appearance of his evil twin brother Winston, and it seems like Victor just can’t catch a break. Lucky for Victor, Adrian is back in town, and this changes everything. Adrian is younger than Victor, but he’s no kid. Adrian’s a savvy businessman who runs two successful tattoo shops while also being a member of a motorcycle club. When a bar fight goes wrong, Adrian finds himself heading back home to North Creek to lay low until the heat dies down. What was supposed to be a short break in North Creek ends up turning into a new beginning as Adrian and Victor reconnect and begin dating. The chemistry and heat between these two men is intense. The sex scenes are fantastic and really enjoyable, and I quite enjoyed the whole journey as Adrian and Victor fall in love. Like Finding Refuge, there’s a lot of action and thrills. Victor and Adrian find themselves in danger, and have to fight for themselves and each other, although they are left with injuries. There’s a lot of hurt/comfort scenes where each man takes a turn being the caretaker for the other due to injuries – these scenes are sweet and adorable and add a wonderful layer of tenderness to their romance.

The writing is a little shaky at points, but I believed its improved from book one. I liked the pacing of the plot better for this book, although there were some strange transitions. Like the first book, this one had the Lifetime movie vibe, meaning drama and action were prioritized over certain realistic details. However, that didn’t bother me since the overall plot and characters were enjoyable and sucked me into the story.

Ken Solin narrated the audiobook. He’s a new narrator for me, and he did a decent job with his narration. Some of his voice choices were a bit odd to me, and it felt like he was just simply narrating the book and not really performing it. However, the production quality was well done with no strange noises or glitches.

Compelling romance with suspense and drama.

Compelling romance with suspense, family drama and finding love.  i so enjoyed listening to this book! The narrator is new to me and I really enjoyed his telling of this story.  He really brought the characters and their feelings to life for me.

I really enjoyed Victor and Adrian, they both acted like adults.  They had lots going on and there were lots of twists and turns in the plot line.   I enjoyed the flow of the story and the pacing was good.

This is book two of the Hometown Heroes series and I have got to read the next book.  The ending of this book gave a teaser idea with the bad guy Winston that just has to be handled.  I have to see this guy get his just punishments.

Good continuation

This is a good continuation with a lot of twists and turns, there are a lot of characters but it's pretty easy to follow. You don't really get a resolution for everything and I almost feel like I missed something somewhere with the ending but overall it's a good listen with good narration and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Heated and Exciting

I really enjoyed this piece! The story was hot and funny. Exciting and interesting. The build up between the characters was enticing. The chemistry was palpable and hot. Not only did they have beautiful chemistry in the bed, but also outside of it. The story line was well developed and even for a shorter story it wasn’t rushed nor did it leave holes or anything. This is a continuation but the prequel is a good story too and I recommend checking that out as well. The narrator did a great job with the story, moving chapter to chapter, mood to mood extremely well. The only thing was the lack of change between character voices, but I didn’t have to wonder who was talking. Sometimes there was awkward pauses where they shouldn’t be between dialogue and “he said” but the narrator made up for it in clear presentation.

Good story

This was a good story.

I liked both Adrian and Victor. the premise of the story was interesting thought some of the plot got lost in favour of the other part of it.
The love story was sweet.

I liked Ken Solon's narration, thought at times it was a little flat and I lost who was talking.

Overall a nice audiobook

Great listen

I loved this romance about two guys with incredible personal complications who find they are strong enough together to overcome all obstacles. The tension was high, the romance was hot and the narrator was perfect. All the voices were distinct and easy to listen to and the emotions were spot on. This one sucked me right in and kept me in the world of the story.

Hit me right in the gut

This story was gripping and Ken Solin done an amazing job of carrying that across in his narration of the book. The characters and they way in which he said them was outstanding, I was gripped I was transported to another universe with this book.
