Publisher's summary

Dalliances, flirtations, liaisons? Aye. But marriage? Nae. Spies dinna wed.

Betrothed four times.

Gwendolyn McClintock has resolutely slammed the door on romance and marriage. Intent on beginning a new life, she sells her beloved familial home in America and totes her orphaned niece and nephew to Scotland’s Highlands. But the grand adventure she promised becomes a tangled muddle when her coach accidentally runs down a powerful laird’s much-too-attractive, far-too-brawny brother.

A covert agent.

A confirmed, carefree rogue, Dugall Ferguson comes perilously close to being trampled beneath horses’ hooves. And the remorseful, deliciously tempting woman responsible for nearly killing him isn’t even aware of the peril awaiting her at her new home. Gwendolyn desperately needs protection, and though he’s on the cusp of realizing his life-long dream, Dugall rashly offers to aid the fiery lass.

Their futures collide.

Forced together in order to oust a would-be killer, irresistible passion erupts between Gwendolyn and Dugall. Dare she trust her traitorous heart one last time, especially to a known rake? How can he choose between his love for Gwendolyn and his desire to be a spy?

Read the sixth installment of the Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series for a suspenseful Scottish historical romance awash with intrigue, seduction, and passion you won’t want to put down.

One of Collette's best!

An American born young woman is guardian of two very young children, her deceased brother's son and daughter. After having lost her fiancees of four betrothals, she receives a letter informing her that her nephew is heir to a lairdship in Scotland. She sells the family plantation, frees the slaves and takes her charges to claim her nephew's inheritance. THEN THE EXCITEMENT BEGINS!!!

In Scotland, on the road to her nephew's inheritance, her coach runs down a man in the middle of the road. The handsome Scot is a covert agent (or spy) for the crown and younger brother to a neighboring laird. His family and hers, unknown to her, have been at odds for generations.

Also unknown to her, the inherited estate is also the home of some disgruntalled relatives. But Dugal, the rescued, injured man knows she will need protection and volunteers for the job.

With the twists and turns and other unexpected happenings, along with the blossoming romance in this book, it is definitely one you won't want to put down or stop listening to! A FASCINATING READ!!

An American in Scotland

What happens when a sassy southern girl from America takes her wards to Scotland due to the death of s distant relative. Nothing that she would have expected. It was fun and interesting to see her acclimate to the environment, the sexy highlander she nurses after a carriage mishap and trying to figure out who to trust. I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.

Very entertaining

This was a very entertaining story. Some of the phrases used certainly brought a smile to my face. I liked the character of Gwendolyn, she was strong and forthright but also very caring of her family members. Some of her expressions were priceless and had me laughing out loud. Dugall was also a handsome, strapping hero with a protective side for those he cared for. The children give an added interest. There is romance and menace and it was good to catch up with the characters from the series. The narrator used different voices and accents for the characters, which helped bring the scenes to life .

wonderful story

Excitement, suspense and romance is the best combination for a story and Suductive Surrender does not miss!!
Twists and turns make for surprises!
David McCallion does not miss as the narrator! it must be hard to change from Southern accent to Scottish accent but he doesn't miss a beat changing between the two. He brings the story to life and adds depth to the characters!
Loved this book.

From the South to Scotland

Dugal Ferguson, brother to Ewan McTavish, Laird of Craiglocky and the Viscount Sethwick, wants to follow in his bother’s footsteps and become a spy for the crown. Gwendolyn McClintock has arrived in Scotland from the American South to bring her nephew, who unexpectedly inherited a Scottish title and estate. Dugal and Gwendolyn meet when the run into each other on the road to the estate. Truthfully, Gwendolyn’s wagon runs over Dugal. She insists that they help him and take him to Suttford House. Dugal agrees to stay on to help Gwendolyn and her family settle in and accustomed to dealing with a Scottish Estate. Sounds good, doesn’t it. It should be easy and he can be on his way. It would have been easy, but all is not as it seems at Suttford.

A cast of entertaining characters and a plot with excitement, danger, humor, and a few surprises make this book one of Collette Cameron’s best. Gwendolyn is strong, smart, and talented. She has been betrothed four times and has resigned herself to being a spinster aunt. Dugal is protective, dedicated, and determined to meet his goal. The children are adorable. Aunt Barbara and Kandie add Southern charm and humor to the story. The villain is quite obvious, or not. The final plot twist will truly surprise you. I enjoyed this story and look forward to more stories from Collette Cameron.

I enjoyed David McCallion’s narration of this book. His accents were well done. I laughed out loud at Aunt Barbara’s thick Southern drawl.

Collette Cameron at her best!!

1825 Scotland. Fate intervenes when American, Gwendolyn McClintock and Scottish budding spy Dugal Ferguson literally collide when her carriage almost runs him down!! Traveling with various family members, Gwendolyn, as guardian of her nephew Jeremiah, is on the way to claim his title and inheritance. Dugal, is determined to go along and help safe guard her when he realizes her destination. Gwendolyn, weary of men after her four failed betrothals, is surprised at the passion that erupts between the two! Full of intrigue, suspense and of course an undeniable explosive attraction, Collette Cameron does it again. With her special mix of lovable characters and wicked humor, this story keeps you turning the pages. Of course I loved Gwendolyn being a Southern Belle since I am from Georgia and combined with a handsome Scot, it does not get any better!!

Listening to this in audio was amazing. David McCallion was the perfect narrator with his rousing Scottish voice that could change quickly with the different characters. I loved the Southern accent most of all and had to laugh out loud a couple of times! Honesty, I listened to this while I was driving and when I arrived at my destination, I had to stay in the car to continue and quickly popped my earbuds in... Loved it!!
