Publisher's summary

Miriam was running. Running from a mistake. No, more than a mistake. A sin.

Ruben was hiding. Hiding from actions that had fatal consequences.

Second to None, an injured and starved retired racehorse, was trying to survive.

The three met in a small town in the middle of winter in Wyoming. The natives say all things have spirits. Would they find spirits enough to forgive themselves? Would they be willing to face the past in order to build a new future? Would they take another risk? Would they give themselves a second chance?

Seconds chance

This is my 5th book from this author... I’ve liked all of them. This one had a good story & I liked the ending, but the beginning was a little long & took a while to get to the point. I found myself wondering as I listened to this book & I think I was a little bored til the last half.

Awesome “Life” Story

I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Second's Chance by Kwen D. Griffeth and narrated by Paul J. McSorley. This was a very interesting and though provoking story for me. It was very immersive with descriptions of the land, animals and people. I now have high expections for what I have come to expect from a Griffeth novel regarding these descriptions. I enjoyed this story very much and I enjoyed learning about all the different characters in the story and their interactions with each other. Paul does a very good job narrating and brings the characters to life. Between what Kwen is describing and how Paul is reading it, it is like I’m living it in my mind. I highly recommend this work.

beautiful love story

I'm not a romance kind of person (at least not in audiobook format) but this isn't your usual romance fare. The author, Kwen Griffeth, takes his time revealing all the facets of his characters. By the time he is done his characters are fully fleshed out and explored. Sometimes they're relatable and other times, I was left wondering what kind of shallow wench was I. While he creates the populace of his novel, Griffeth avoid stereotypes. Villains are rarely completely bad and the heroes have a dark side. The author presents both the good and bad sides of this community of people. You can tell he has a love of writing. And not just that but a deep interest in people and what makes them who they are. It honestly wouldn't surprise me to find one of his novels as required reading for college sometime in the future.

If you're looking for a novel that is complex and beautiful, this is the one.

The narrator is the very professional Paul J. McSorley. His distinctive voice is a good fit with the western characters in this novel. The narrator has different voices for different characters which I really enjoy. McSorley has a whiskey kind of voice that fits the character Ruben very well. I've listened to quite a few of the books that he has narrated as he is one of my favorite narrators.
