Teenagers save the day

After a recent diet of heavy-weight biography and heart-rending realism an escapist novel like this was just the job. A pacy story, even if a bit far-fetched, as three teenagers get into extraordinary situations. I kept being reminded of Enid Blyton's Famous Five books of my childhood: youngsters free-ranging about the place with little adult supervision, exhibiting extraordinary resourcefulness and facing difficult moral dilemmas. The modern story is more complex and grittier with the teenagers in much greater danger, but the fantasy element is the same and enjoyable as such.

There are plenty of twists and turns to keep one listening and the denouement was a surprise.

The narrator does a good job.

Not as good as Myron Bolitar novels, but gripping!

I find some of the reactions of the characters a trifle odd, and the story is far fetched. Mickey isn't such an attractive character as uncle Myron, he tends to be a bit moany and 'poor me'. However, I am sufficiently hooked by the first two in the series to go for number three. I do like Mickey's sidekicks though - two school chum weirdos - 'Spoon' and 'Ema', and they make up for the personality that Mickey lacks.

The makings of the next Myron

Really starting to get into enjoying the Mickey Bolitare stories now. Picking up on the space left by his uncle!

Childlike

The worst HC book I’ve read. Very poor story line and plot and really not worth the effort....

SUPERB AGAIN

What made the experience of listening to Seconds Away the most enjoyable?

I love audio books in preference to the written word as it adds to the story experience (as long as the sound effects are not added it with mood music - so annoying for us Hard of Hearing Peopl) I am dyslexic so don't have the luxury of switching to written books just in case anyone thinks to suggest that...lol

What did you like best about this story?

The Mickey Bolitar Series never lets you down, Harlan has kept the plot fresh and it s always exciting to see anew book out, and a pleasure to buy them. I feel I know the characters so well now it is almost like a Tv Show or Movie sequel, but FAR FAR better!

Which character – as performed by Eric Meyers – was your favourite?

Great narrator on all his workson AUDIBLE, always enjoy his reading style and depth he adds to the books he reads.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Finding the truth can mean finding yourself.......

Any additional comments?

Keep them rolling Harlan, Don't put Mickey Bolitar away, even when you hopefully re-emerge with another Myron Bolitar installment. Great body of work, that just keeps growing in size with the quality level kept at a very high level, as always.

Thanks H.C. & E.M.

Good story

Enjoy all of Coben's books. Have read all the 'myron' series and this one is just as good. Aimed for a younger audience though.

Very good!

Once again Harlan Coben nails it. I can't wait to start the next book in the continued story.
