Publisher's Summary

Alys Dewitt's sister is getting married. Luckily for her she gets to be the maid of honor in a Regency themed wedding at an actual ducal estate in England. While attending the wedding, she falls through a time hole and wakes up in 1815. Everything is strange, wondrous, not at all as she expected it to be.

James Kendall, the Duke of Weston, returns from war to find an injured woman on his estate. She mumbles strange phrases and keeps calling him by another name. Thinking her a bit mad from her wounds, he takes her to the manor and calls for a doctor.

Will they give into their mutual desires, or will Alys find a way back to her own time?

Linked Across Time Book Two

Alys Dewitt is preparing for her sister's wedding when she faints. When she wakes up, she is in an unknown room with a woman dressed in period clothing. However, the Duke of Weston proves that she has experienced a shift in time. James Kendall's solution to her problem is to marry her. He believes that is the only way to keep her safe, but Alys is too independent to allow a marriage of convenience.

A sweet love story

What do you do when you never find love?? Fall in Love by falling back in time to your soul mate. Alys is an intriguing character and knows what she wants. Dawn Brower did an excellent job with this book and Stevie Zimmerman made it come to life. A+ story

Sweet and entertaining regency time travel romance

What did you like best about this story?

I love regency/time travel stories and I was excited to listen to this book.
I felt that Alys's character was very well written. She had a strong personality which clashed with the social restrictions on women at the time. She wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. James on the other hand wasn't enough of a rogue for me. He was too nice. He believed Alys almost straight away when she explained that she was from the future and then his first thought was to rush off and buy a special licence.
There was a very interesting subplot involving smugglers and the suspicious death of James brother but that storyline wasn't resolved and I'm hoping that it will carry forward to a later book in the series.

I'm looking forward to reading Regina's story in the next book.

Historical time travel romance

Second in the series Searching for my Rogue is a wonderful romance. this is the story of Alice who falls off a cliff and finds herself back in 1815. James finds himself a Duke assuming the title of the Duke of Weston after his twin brothers death. James has viewed never to marry but now that he is a Duke he will need a Duchess and Alice needs protection so James sees marrying her to be what they both need. Alice is a strong independent woman, a surgeon who fights James at every turn. I loved James best friend Dominc and found the banter between the two men comical. I love this story and the characters of Alice and James. Wonderful read. buy buy buy

Great book and awesome narration..

This was a cute time travel story, mostly because Stevie Zimmerman narrated it. I plan on listening to the next one because Carolyn Morris is narrating that one but I’m passing on Surrendering to My Spy because in the sample you could hear 2 men talk and they sounded just like women. WTH? That was narrated in 2017 and the narrator, Donna Vaughan, couldn’t even try to sound manly? Do women readers REALLY want to hear men who sound like women that they would give a terrible narrator 5 stars because she does the women’s voices so well? Go figure!

Anyway, this was about Alys, from 2015, who fell through time to 1815 where she was rescued by James, the Duke Of Weston. It was a sweet love story that I enjoyed immensely. Alys was a doctor and when James was shot she took the bullet out and when James awoke and asked to see HIS doctor Alys informed James that that man would never be back. LOL, Alys held a letter opener to the doctors throat when he would have put a leech on her when she was first found. I found that quite understandable, that she would kill him for such a thing. Ewww.

Of course, since this was a novella, it was kind of insta-love but it happened over a week rather than 2 days, so there’s that.

There was no sex in this story but there was some great sexual tension between Alys and James. Anyone can write a sex scene but it’s a good author that can leave the sex out and write sexual tension.

And the F-bomb was used 2 times by Alys.

As to the narration: Stevie Zimmerman is wonderful. She reads with great emotions and her men sound like men.

Any additional comments?

This was short and sweet story of one lady who went to her sister’s wedding got a headache and travel back in time. The story was pretty well written with a very interesting plot. Between the narrator and the author it does keep you entertained.

Ms. Brower did a really good job of narration with really making you feel each characters emotion. There were times when I thought her accent was to British for ones that were not of that decent. I heard No background sounds. There were no places at the beginning of a chapter that was higher or lower than the one before. If any breaks were taken you could not tell. Her male voices were as good as her female. You had no trouble knowing who was talking or what they were feeling. I really got a kick out of some of her scenes, a few had me chuckling the way she brought them to life. I have not listened to anything by this narrator but found her voice to be very pleasant and easy to understand. I look forward to listening to more of her work.

Close your eyes imagine that you have gone back a few hundred or thousand years to a time when women didn’t have much to say in the way of the world. A time when men didn’t have to explain their selves now imagine a man taking over your life you have to make him believe you are from the future with the things you have on you. Once said man starts believing this he decides he know what is best for you and sets aside making plans for your life without asking you. How well would take this? I would say about as well as Alys did. Head start rolling and people start back peddling as tempers get hot leaving one man trying to guess what in the world he could have done wrong.

I found this to be a sweet pretty clean read. I loved how Alys stood up for herself and her career. She gave me lots of smiles as she puts James in his place.

I enjoyed the characters and some of their witty ways along with the twists the author gave the plot. I did think at times it was a little confusing and had to back it up to re-listen. I would have loved to have seen if her family came to understand what happen to her. That is about all I can say about that without giving the plot away. I found it to be entertaining and at time I had a hard time putting it down. It is a very short read and great for a listen why on a road trip.

Searching for My Rogue (Linked Across Time #2)
Written by: Dawn Brower
Narrated by: Stevie Zimmerman

I love the cover. Love how the story started but could not finish this book. The dialect of the narrator created a need to constantly rewind the book in attempt to understand what was being said. I recommend listening to a sample before getting the book. If you can understand it, you may enjoy more than I did. The is DNF for me.
