Publisher's summary

The world's oil supply is vanishing, the stock market is plummeting, and the key to saving the future seems to be a baffling historical mystery. Can the NUMA crew crack it in time? Sea of Greed is the suspenseful new NUMA Files novels from the number-one New York Times best-selling grand master of adventure.

After an explosion in the Gulf of Mexico destroys three oil rigs trying to revive a dying field, Kurt Austin and the NUMA Special Projects Team are tapped by the president of the US to find out what's gone wrong. The trail leads them to a brilliant billionaire in the alternative-energy field. Her goal is the end of the oil age; her company has spent billions developing the worlds' most advanced fuel-cell systems. But is she an environmental hero...or a rogue genetic engineer?

The NUMA crew discovers the oil fields are infected with a bacteria that is consuming the oil before it can be pumped out of the Earth - a bacteria originally lost decades ago when two submarines vanished in the Mediterranean.

With hired killers on his trail, can Kurt Austin locate a submarine that's remained hidden for more than 50 years? And even if he can, can the biological terror that's been unleashed be stopped?

Critic reviews

“The villain is diabolical, our heroes seem to have no way to win, and the action is relentless. In other words, the story is classic Cussler. The thought of the world running out of oil is terrifying, and that along with the wonderful cast of characters makes this one of the better entries in the NUMA Files series.” (Associated Press)

“Fast-paced, imaginative fun. May Kurt and crew survive, as there’s a good series to continue.” (Kirkus Reviews)

“Female villains of the evil-genius type are few and far between in the high-concept-adventure subgenre, and it’s refreshing to find one here. . . Cussler’s devoted readership will find this among the better entries in the series.” (Booklist)

Audible is terrific ... and Cussler is one of my true favorites.

Ripped from the headlines

Great story that could be today's news story. I am hopeful that we have a real life Kurt and Joe protecting our world.

Classic Cussler

I have loved every Clive Cussler book. The good guys always win, and the bad guys always die. Very clear cut. I also love the ocean settings. Great for escaping an airplane seat or a crowded gym. Scott Brick is one of the best narrators ever.

A battle for energy

Another fantastic Numa Files adventure. This time, the battle between fossil fuels and alternative energy drives the plot. Kurt and Joe headline, of course. Sandecker makes an appearance and several of Cussler's tried and true supporting cast bring critical support. Fans of the series will find everything they are looking for, all of it wrapped in a compelling tale of adventure and suspense.

A 5-star adventure, and enough to keep me content while I wait for the next release in one of my favorite series.

Now one of my Favorites.

So far I've read them all. All the Custler collaborations and single authored series. I became a fan when I read in the 6th grade To Raise The Titanic.
Because of that book I cried when the Titsnic was discovered and found it in two pieces. My dream of my favorite book coming true would now never happen.
I'm grateful for the time I have spent reading or listening to these adventures.

great story until...

I have read every book CC has written. I'm a huge fan, but this collaboration was blisteringly brilliant, there is an epic climax, and then what feels like an afterthought of a conclusion to the story. the story leading up to the climax was incredible I can barely stop listening, the climax itself was again incredible, white knuckle action, but the miniscule explanation for how the story ends was just a let down. It felt like there should have been another one to two chapters instead of the piddly little bit we got to wrap up the story.
