Publisher's summary

Scythia: Protostar is the first book in the Dark Stellar Legacy series.

It is a new pulp-style adventure. Strap in, because this series is a wild ride out among the stars. There are psychic psychopaths, deep-space colonies, and demon-summoning cults. As we explore feral frontier worlds and hyper-tech hive planets, we will learn more about the dark empire, magic-wielding aliens, and ancient prophecies.

In our first installment:

An ambitious bureaucrat has brought together an unusual team to help him rise to power in a world so dark that the only way to get ahead is by taking it. He has worked hard to gain the loyalty of the cunning and beautiful Raza. He has found Uthraith, the deadliest headhunter from the far, feral reaches of space. It took months of searching, but he finally caught Djaem, the best hive-master rogue in the inner sectors. And at last…he found it…his secret weapon. Scythia, a broken psychic from the Citadel.

Can this batch of imperial criminals cooperate long enough to complete an assignment? Only time will tell.

Join them on their first mission as they are sent to a hive mining colony to gather Intel and contain a Tyrling demon. Now he just has to hope that they will return intact with the colony still standing.

Fantastic visuals

I love the visual story telling in this book. The moods of the characters and their reactions to the world around them keeps you spellbound and trapped in the Ether. You won’t be able to escape once you push play. Jesse Harvey has an amazing story voice and the audible talent of Eliza Summers brings the perfect life to Scythia.

Highly Imaginative Story

A team consisting of an amnesic psychic, a mentalist conman, an assassin, and a man extremely skilled in fighting (he received his training on a dangerous jungle planet) are brought together. The team’s first mission is to investigate a space demon. That is just the beginning of the action!

The author’s, Jesse Harvey, mastery of the pulp writing style is evident in this book. Despite occasional moments of exploitation in the story, she skillfully engages the reader with intricate plot details and well-developed characters. Scythia stands out, evolving at a unique pace with deadly precision. The dialogue flows smoothly and feels authentic, while each character undergoes significant development throughout the plot. Notably, there are major plot twists that demand attention.

The narrator, Eliza Summers gives a solid performance capturing the essence of Scythia and her friends. She assigns a unique voice for each making the story easier to follow. She spoke clearly and smoothly.

An intriguing storyline and characters for sure!
