Publisher's summary

Scorpia has dogged Alex Rider for most of his life. They killed his parents, they did their best to con Alex into turning traitor, and they just keep coming back with more power. Now the world's most dangerous terrorist organization is playing with fire in the world's most combustible land: the Middle East. No one knows Scorpia like Alex. And no one knows how best to get to Alex like Scorpia. Until now, the chases have never been more intense, the fights more treacherous, or the risks so perilous to mankind. And this time, Alex won't get away.

Take another thrill ride with Alex Rider.

Good but not wonderful.

What made the experience of listening to Scorpia Rising - The Final Mission the most enjoyable?

The story by far was the best part.

Who was your favorite character and why?

the main character of course, because A. There is no series without him and B. he is relatable.

Did Simon Prebble do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes, however personally i am a fan of multiple readers such as in

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes defiantly.

Any additional comments?

Nope.

Not as good as the earlier ones.

This book manages to be unrealistic and too realistic at the same time. The plot of the entire series is obviously pretty cheesy, but it's still pretty good, but this book captures the side of life that is bleak and empty as Alex experiences unimaginable loss, which (I speculate) most people who read this genre of books don't want. In essence, the author does an excellent job of making the reader feel as empty and grieving as Alex.

It's a challenge

It take awhile to get to the interesting part of the book. After you're there, the hours fly by.

A-MAZE-ZING!!!

Any additional comments?

I will not lie. I love this series! It's fast, enjoyable, most of the time believable (as believable as 007) but overall touching. Smithers is my favorite character, and the villains are easy/fun to hate. This was a sad conclusion to this saga, but considering everything Alex has been through, a pat on the back would be even worse. Every story has a twisting plot, which I loved since I try to figure out everything before I read it. If ever the author wants to do Alex as a grown up- consider me the first to read the book!

Pretty good. Makes you feel what is happening.

I liked this book because it has a really good story. Definitely has good narration. The narrator has the perfect voice for this story. I recommend this book.

It was okay

I already knew the whole trap Because
The the intro was 2 hours long and very annoying and O was just waiting for Laxe to fall into it so the book was not good.

Disappointing

What a letdown, to be following a series that was like Indiana Jones meets Mission Impossible, and for it to come to an end like a wet towel thrown in the sand. Did Horowitz just give up? It felt that way. I had to rewind the first hour of this book five times, because it was so mind numbing, I couldn't retain anything that was going on. In fact, Alex Rider didn't even show up until 2 1/2 hours into the audio (about a third of the physical book). It starts with a long, ridicuous epic of back story and bad-guy plotting. So now we know what the bad guys are planning and we get to sit through the rest of the book watching the good guys fall into the trap. There weren't even any surprises. There is a bit of tragedy toward the end, but it was lost on me. Alex's relationships were not strong enough to feel remorse for characters we saw very little of. There was also a distinct absence of MI6. In the past books, there was always someone watching Alex's back, even if he didn't know it and even if they lost sight at some times. Here, MI6 just threw him into Egypt and walked away. No followup, no progress check, no security. There was Smithers and he's always cool. But no real direction from the agency. A good chunk of the book did keep me engaged, but I couldn't figure out where it was all going. In the end, it went nowhere. The ending was pretty flat. I feel a little cheated.

MORE OF THE SAME

I have listened to 4 hours of this just to find the same gross, STUPID MI6 People pulling Alex around and Alex taking it. I Had hoped that Mr. Horowitz would give us something new. But no. We get a rewarmed plot full of train wrecks.

How is it possible for British Intelligence NOT to know that a MAJOR criminal ecapes from prison?? Dose Mr Horowitz think WE are that dumb?? Lost interest after this. I am sure that Mr. Horowitz will pull something out of this, but for me I am tired of this same thing. And Killing Jack to get the story going was in poor taste.

I am sure that this review will not be well received, but for the last book, that Audible had us wait for, I just expected better.
