Publisher's summary

A no-nonsense and helpful guide on how to cope with a slew of mental-health issues that are hell-bent on ruining the lives of millions of people worldwide

Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in.

With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately to the non-emergencies of everyday life, and to deal effectively with old, or newly acquired, traumas (particularly post-traumatic stress disorder).

good info but the narration... damn

good information but it's hard to listen to the author narrate. she sounds like a 16 year old girl in an empty room with a bad speakerphone. professional narration would make this so much better.

Great book, horrible sound quality

this book is really incredible but it sounds like it was recorded on a toaster. It’s not too long of a boom so it’s not unbearable. If you don’t mind the sound give it a listen!

difficult to listen to

book has good content, but the cursing is excessive and takes away from the subject matter. Oh, and the basement recording makes for terrible audio

Needs better recording.

Can’t listen to this in the car because of the poor recording quality. Too echoey. Maybe record in a closet if you don’t have a professional setup? Good info but I’ll probably pick up a paper copy to continue.

Yes Faith, We Know You're Cool

I appreciate a well-placed cuss word, but I felt like Faith swore indiscriminately in an effort to convince me that she was a regular joe. Her use of harsh language often felt gratuitous rather than just the right thing at the right moment. When she would delve deeper into a topic, the swearing would lessen and be more appropriate - that is when the book was at its best for me. I will need to listen to this book again (and possibly again) to glean all its wisdom. Overall, I liked the content and often found myself listening with someone else's ears (like, so-and-so should hear this part!) but I don't think it's possible to share Audible books. I do have one complaint - Faith often refers to the recommended reading list… where is it?

Great Story, Horrific Audio

I really enjoyed the message and information delivered by the author, however the audio quality was atrocious. the edits cut off half words, the room that was used for tracking had no audio treatment and sounded like a 200 square foot bathroom. the voice of the engineer was left in on multiple occasions, the sounds of vehicles outside were also captured and because i was listening with earbuds i kept looking over my shoulder to avoid vehicles that were not there. I really did enjoy the message and delivery so If faith wants to do another book, i offer my services as a recording engineer to make an audio book of the highest caliber

A New and Empowering Way to Engage with Trauma!

I loved it! The author narrates and does a wonderful job speaking with both compassion and humor on trauma which is often experienced with hopelessness and despair.
