wonderful book on zero waste homes

Thank you Kate for a wonderful book and full of easy to implement ideas to get closer to zero waste! We are a family of 4 kiddos, ranging from 4 years to 17, and Mark and myself. We have been gradually moving to Zero waste for about 2.5 years. I am proud to say we are down to about a half a paper grocery bag of garbage per week. Thanks to your book we are getting smaller and smaller. I love all the cool DIY things you are providing for reaching our goal. I really liked your all great ideas for striving for a Zero Waste life. I can't recommend this book enough.

No More Mindless Waste!

Where does The Zero Waste Home rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably in my top 10 due to the value of content and ideas that it has within it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Zero Waste Home?

The 3 R concept, as well as the suggestion that you can freeze things like produce so as preserve them so that you don't have to throw them away!

What does Annette Martin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings a calm and professional narration that just makes this book even more enjoyable and sounds a lot better than my own inner-narration voice!

What did you learn from The Zero Waste Home that you would use in your daily life?

This book has a lot of neat ideas about recycling that I would be eager to put into practice. I've never previously been too big on recycling as I thought that it was too much micromanagement for me to deal with, but it really doesn't sound all that bad after reading this book.

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone who wants to reduce waste and save money. There are a lot of great ideas in this book and I think anyone would find it very useful.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Zero Waste Home?

Using my used coffee grounds instead of baking soda to keep the fridge and bathroom smelling fresh!

Invaluable Advice

This book is easily worth three or four times its cost because Kate Anderson has literally packed it with tips that will not only save you money, but will also help you do your own part to reduce waste in your community and, in fact, on the planet.

I really enjoyed Kate's perspective and Annette Martin did a superb job of narrating. It will take some time for me to adopt many of Kate's tips and suggestions, but I really am going to give it a try. Then, there are other tips, a wealth of them, that just make sense to adopt immediately! Who doesn't want to save money?!

Pick this be up. You won't be disappointed. Great Christmas gift!

Stop Wasting By Changing Your Perspective

In addition to what you might expect to find in a book about reducing waste in your home, the author goes beyond the four walls of your family home to offer ways to lower or reduce the waste we all generate on a daily basis simply by being alive and consuming.

Speaking of generating waste....I found one statistic in this book particularly shocking: every person generates 1.5 tons of waste each year. With all the people on the planet that's a little disconserting. And the statistic of $1 in every $10 we spend is for packaging is eye-opening, too. That means 10 percent of all money spent goes for things we throw away. And then we have to PAY someone to haul away our trash! Yikes! The money we are wasting....

I really like the section about no-waste parenting. I could have used her ideas about generating crafts out of trash while I was raising my four sons.

Very Inspiring

What did you love best about The Zero Waste Home?

i loved the entire book. mostly the fact how it motivates people. we all know three common terminology. "RE-USE" "RE-DUCE" and "RE-CYCLE" but listening to the book introduced new and the very effective term "RE-PURPOSE." the book apart from sharing the facts and motives it shared, how are we ruining and damaging our own environment, how can these problems be solved, how can one save money and help others too.

Have you listened to any of Annette Martin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes i did Toddlers Tantrums but Zero Waste Home is better than that. since it is applicable to almost everyone alive on this planet.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

the best idea from the book i will always remember is that instead of throwing the old stuff away, since they are not suitable for your kid's age, we can give those gifts for people who might need them. moreover, instead of everyday food delivery, we can using the grocery at home make food for the family, in addition to it, not making plenty just the desired amount of platters your family needs. Very inspiring and effective, probably i'll be able to save money. who knows when the emergency strikes.

Much better than expected

Would you listen to The Zero Waste Home again? Why?

I already have, because quite a lot of info is packed into it, so takes time to digest.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Huh?

Have you listened to any of Annette Martin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Never heard her before but i liked the narration a lot!

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

YES! Probably half the book has already been implemented and the rest i am slowly testing out now.

Any additional comments?

Very easy to follow, very easy to understand...exactly how a book of this nature should be.

Already found our house has reduced a LOT of waste and rubbish and nonsense with the added, and quite unexpected, bonus that we seem to have saved a lot of money already.

Happy with this book!

Good for beginner

For someone with a lot of experience with environmental concepts this might be mostly review (though you might need one), but for beginners to these concepts this is a pretty good resource!

Money saving mode, ON!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Why of course yes. Anyone who's going through some rough patches deserve to have a look at it, it is made for them and I already gave it to a relative of mine.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well the book wasn't supposed to have any "characters" as it's more of a guide than a narrative book but still, Annette Martin has done a wonderful job here indeed.

Have you listened to any of Annette Martin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven''t yet grabbed a look at any other narration from her but if others are as good as this one, I think she deserves an applaud and a purchase too.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Zero Waste Home?

I think the part where I was told to shake it off piece by piece helped me out a lot and I will definitely try it out.

Any additional comments?

This book is a piece of heaven gifted on to me. I really treasure it in my eyes. I am going to adhere too much now and make sure I cut off on those beefy expenses. Thanks for writing this amazing book,Kate Anderson.
