Publisher's summary

How do you react when you're diagnosed with insulin-dependent diabetes at the age of 5? What do you feel when you become disabled at 32? What do you do when you face kidney failure and want to do the necessary dialysis treatments at home? Where do you start when you need a transplant? And how do you cope with all those events? And what if you're the friend or family member wanting to help this person? The Road to Kidneyville addresses all those questions and more, in a personal account written by the patient's wife, with input from the patient himself, Larry Crain. She shares their emotional roller-coaster ride of life with diabetes, an honest view of hemodialysis at home, and the challenges of getting on the list (and staying there!) for a kidney transplant. This is a candid account of real life and a couple truly dedicated to each other.

Excellent Source to find Support and Resource!

What did you like about this audiobook?

The title seemed to capture what I wanted to know, but it was your story that gave me a renewed hope and optimism about our future, and changed my outlook on living life with a diseased kidney.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

The book was very detailed of what to expect on each step in a person's journey that goes through kidney damage to kidney failure and obtaining a kidney transplant. It covers the emotional, financial, and medical expectations, and family role.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

The author presented the information in a very insightful manner.A person supporting a family member with kidney failure can be a step ahead of the game, by reading this book, and preparing mentally, start making significant family adjustments, and utilizing community resources to better support their love one.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Nothing.

Do you have any additional comments?

I think your book needs to be in every endocrinologist office, dialysis center, and kidney transplant library, and nephrologist office.
