Publisher's summary

In this book, authors H.A. Dorfman and Karl Kuehl present their practical and proven strategy for developing the mental skills needed to achieve peak performance at every level of the game.

The theory and applications are illustrated by anecdotes and insights from major and minor league players, who at some point discovered the importance of mastering the inner game in order to play baseball as it should be played.

Intended for players, managers, coaches, agents, and administrators as well as fans who want a more in-depth look at the makeup of the complete baseball player.

Dry but great information

This is great for coaches who may not be getting the best out of their players. Being able to tie their theories and factual research and quotes from professional athletes helps you understand that the mental aspect is just as important as the physical aspect of the game.

The reading itself is a bit dry and can be easy to mind wander.

Performance

The content, which is extraordinary, is insulted by the narrator. His pattern of speaking trumps punctuation to the point where the reading is nonsensical at times. The exact same one inflection throughout the reading sounds like a newly sentient robot.

Useful content vs Robotic Narration

1. ). Useful content: expectations, pressure, preparation, etc.
2.). Numerous examples.
3.). A few chapters I repeated several times.
4.). The chapter Re expectations was worth the book price
5.). Narration was irritating. Robotic. Disappointing.
Regardless, Worth the money and time.

Narrator kills this book

This is good information albeit dated, but what really is important to know is the narrator talks slowly, pauses at inappropriate time and bolsters his voice as if it’s what I’m here for. His flow is as if he’s never read a book to anyone before in his life. Hard to listen to only because of that. As I said the information is good and from a leader in his time.
