Publisher's summary

In the past decade, depression rates have skyrocketed, and one in four Americans will suffer from major depression at some point in their lives. Where have we gone wrong? Dr. Stephen S. Ilardi sheds light on our current predicament and reminds us that our bodies were never designed for the sleep-deprived, poorly nourished, frenzied pace of 21st-century life.

Inspired by the extraordinary resilience of aboriginal groups like the Kaluli of Papua New Guinea, Dr. Ilardi prescribes an easy-to-follow, clinically proven program that harks back to what our bodies were originally made for and what they continue to need. The Depression Cure program has already delivered dramatic results, helping even those who have failed to respond to traditional medications.

I have a dear family member....

I have a dear family member that did me a favor, they listened from the 7:35 mark until the 25:02 point (I bookmarked it for them). That is all that I asked. I did it in an attempt to help although I knew it would only work if they were ready (ready enough) for it to work. Well, it really worked! They started the 1000mg Omega 3 vitamin that very hour and what a difference it made in her. She never ate fish, hated it, and she is allergic to nuts so she was really lacking in the fatty acids that help the brain. She also did the other thing that was mentioned, kept busy when she was thinking too deep about negative things.
The book is over 6 hours long but was helped in the first 18 minutes, wow. What a wonderful tool for life! Thank you Dr. and Audible!!!
P.S., I suggest reading the whole book in time!

Better than a counselling session!!!

I got more out of this book than all the years of counselling I've had and countless books I've read. I've read reviews about a book being life changing. This is the first time I've ever felt that this book alone could help cure your depression permanently!! I've listened to this book twice in just a month. Very straight forward steps to take and able to go as quickly or slowly as you are able to go.

There is not one negative about this book.

In just a couple of weeks since I first read this book I've started taking the supplements, more aware of ruminating(harder habit to break but have greatly reduced amount), improving my eating/sleeping habits and planning to get back into working out and socializing more. I'm following most of his recommendations and I'm already noticing improvements. I'm hopeful and excited of how much better I will be and feel once I get all of them implemented !

If you suffer from depression, feeling down or just can't get yourself into gear this book is truly a game changer.

I have already recommended this book. Definitely worth the credit.

Thank you Mr IIardi you have helped me get myself up and living life again!!

Eye opener!

Would you listen to The Depression Cure again? Why?

Yes, I plan too. Because of all the good information. You will learn more about depression than you ever thought possible. I found myself saying "oh my God I do that!" over and over again. I found out more about myself and why I think or do what I do! I began seeing a difference in my depression within 1 day of listening to this book. I began simply with Omega-3 vitamins and once I felt better I worked my way up to sunny day walks. I am now socializing again and feeling the happiness I once felt. I plan on slowly getting off my depression pills within the next week because I no longer feel I need them. Sometimes all it takes is the right vitamin and the right words. This guy "gets" me more than I got myself.

Clear, Concise, Common Sense help for depression

Any additional comments?

I looked into several books on depression and this one had the most practical, common sense approach of them all. In general it contains a lot of good advice for taking care of your body and mind even if you don't suffer from depression. I highly recommend this for anyone.

Best self-help book on depression

Of all the self-help books on depression that I have read, this is by far the best. It identifies proven steps an individual can take to elevate their mood, and the author speaks with authority because he is an expert.

CanuckWest

If you could sum up The Depression Cure in three words, what would they be?

Some great advice, information and actionable content. It was easy to digest and written for regular people - not PHD's.

Great book

I bought two books to listen to for my depression and anxiety issues. This book in my opinion was better than the upward spiral book, less talk about what part of the brain is affected in medical jargon. I took away more helpful ideas with this book and had some great supplement information that helped. This book was very easy to understand and listen to.

Seems very old school self-help, bit dated.

When Jill entered my office on that Friday morning I could tell something wasn't going well with this 34 year old mother of three.. blah blah blah.. and finally here's the one-liner takeaway.
