Publisher's summary

How to rewire your brain to improve virtually every aspect of your life - based on the latest research in neuroscience and psychology on neuroplasticity and evidence-based practices.

Not long ago, it was thought that the brain you were born with was the brain you would die with, and that the brain cells you had at birth were the most you would ever possess. Your brain was thought to be hardwired to function in predetermined ways. It turns out that's not true. Your brain is not hardwired; it's "softwired" by experience. This book shows you how you can rewire parts of the brain to feel more positive about your life, remain calm during stressful times, and improve your social relationships.

Written by a leader in the field of Brain-Based Therapy, it teaches you how to activate the parts of your brain that have been underactivated and calm down those areas that have been hyperactivated, so that you feel positive about your life and remain calm during stressful times. You will also learn to improve your memory, boost your mood, have better relationships, and get a good night's sleep.

Rewire Your Brain reveals how cutting-edge developments in neuroscience and evidence-based practices can be used to improve your everyday life. Explaining exciting new developments in neuroscience and their applications to daily living, this audiobook will guide you through the process of changing your brain so you can change your life and be free of self-imposed limitations.

Dr. Arden is a leader in integrating the new developments in neuroscience with psychotherapy and director of training in mental health for Kaiser Permanente for the Northern California Region. Other titles by Dr. Arden include Brain-Based Therapy - Adult, Brain-Based Therapy - Child, Improving Your Memory for Dummies and Heal Your Anxiety Workbook.

Poor Performance

Narrator sounds like he's reading from a teleprompter or something; very humdrum and mechanical. The really disappointing thing, though, was all the missing material. He just read the production notes saying that material should be formatted for audio and read at some point, or a chart of something should be inserted here or there, but where are those charts and lists, etc? Other audiobooks that I've purchased have provided links to external sites or non-audio downloadable files on audible.com when non-text is part of the book. Needless to say, I'll be calling Audible about this tomorrow, since I want that material. Didn't want to do it today, since it New Year's Day, but this was supposed to be my big resolution project, and it's not off to a great start. Oh, well, I should know better. The book did contain some information that I didn't already have, but it doesn't hurt to hear a reminder given what I've done with all that fudge and feasting the last couple of weeks. It would have been better to include a few more tips on how to implement some of the changes, rather than just telling us why we should do something.

GREAT Book ~!~

Would you listen to Rewire Your Brain again? Why?

Oh yes. There is a ton of information and it's hard to get it all in one listen. He tells you exactly what to do to rewire your brain for depression, panic attacks, memory problems and much more. He teaches you how your brain works and WHY. He tells you what you are doing wrong and how to correct your "disorder" or "disability" all without medicine. I'm so excited about this book I'm getting copies for others. It's a must read for people who really want to change. You do have to DO the work but it's easy. I've already started doing some and it's working. I see where I've created my own situations and what I can do to correct them and live a much happier healthier lifestyle. I've had panic attacks so bad I had a service dog for them and depression so bad I've visited the hospital on several occasions. I don't see that being the case anymore in my life. I've worked hard over the years to get past all these things and this book as finally put all the pieces of the puzzle together for me. I've listened to this audible version and will be getting the hard copy to further concrete the principles into my life. I hope you to can Rewire Your Brain ...
ENJOY~!~

What did you like best about this story?

The way he explained things is so understandable. He covers problems I'm having such as depression, panic attacks, and memory. I can problem solves my own problems and don't have to be on medicine. Something they don't tell you in a mental health facility is that you CAN get over a mental illness but most people don't want to do the work involved in order to get WELL. It's a process that takes a long time but Mr Arden makes it so much easier.

Which scene was your favorite?

About depression and panic attacks because I can relate so well to these conditions.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Oh so much. I've not even scratched the surface of all this book has to offer. I will be listening to it for a while to extract all the info it has in it.

Any additional comments?

I want to read more books by John Arden.

This is an outstanding book. Any therapist should read this! There is so much that can be easily utilized. Dr. Arden gives such support for how the brain functions and how to tame it to have happier lives.

Too long

There was a lot of great information in this book. It could have been condensed to probably less than 100 pages. The rest was anecdotal stories and scientific information. While this could have been interesting in the right context, I simply was not interested in the context of this particular book.
