Publisher's summary

The late Carl Rogers, founder of the humanistic psychology movement, revolutionized psychotherapy with his concept of "client-centered therapy." His influence has spanned decades, but that influence has become so much a part of mainstream psychology that the ingenious nature of his work has almost been forgotten.

With a new introduction by Peter Kramer, this landmark book is a classic in its field and a must-listen for anyone interested in clinical psychology or personal growth.

Listening

His chapter on listening in chapter 17 was excellent. His message about listening was similar to the Gottman-Rapoport intervention on listening shared by John Gottman in his couples counseling.

Powerful Teachers that are closest to Truth

Before this book I read The Master Key System. Truthfully, that book sounded like voodoo spirituality, but it works. Mow I understand why through Carl Roger’s teachings. Most interesting for me, are the fact that these characters are unrelated to each other but speak on the same ‘internal world’ within us. This is going a long way to my development as a person.

Five stars for Becoming A Person

Thank you Mr. Rogers (Carl).
Wonderful to listen to this classic in its entirety.
Easy to listen to, nice presentation Mr. Joe Hempel. Though I did find it better at 1.25 speed... and , admittedly, X2 through some of the research-science material...

As a Counseling profession Graduate student I SO MUCH prefer reading the actual material if Carl Rogers than a Journal article or textbook talking about what someone else “ thought-thinks” of C.R.
Thank you Audible 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

a must- read for aspiring health care workers

Rogers offers a well- developed and inspiring view of the individual and the process of becoming. An important aspect of this view is that the barrier between psychotherapy and every day life is essentially thin, which is approached through multiple perspectives in this book. fantastic!

Required reading for humanity

I loved it. The narrator was good at adding appropriate emotions and inflection.

Beyond that, Rogers' work seems relevant today as when it was written. To better understand oneself, or those around you, Rogers has provided a authentic and empowering text.
