Publisher's summary

Modern Man in Search of a Soul is the classic introduction to the thought of Carl Jung. Along with Freud and Adler, Jung was one of the chief founders of modern psychiatry. In this book, Jung examines some of the most contested and crucial areas in the field of analytical psychology: dream analysis, the primitive unconscious, and the relationship between psychology and religion.

If you've been listening to Jordan B Peterson,

Between literary analysis, archetypes, Joseph Campbell, and Jordan B Peterson, I can't believe it has taken me this long to actually read/listen o Jung himself. Wealth of insights and well-explained. I took a lot of notes.

Most profound man of the 20th century

I would say the person who dies into the mind of young should have a base level of knowledge as well as a fundamental understanding of their own beliefs. Jung is so intellectually gifted that his writings will shake the foundation of any man, who stands on something. The inside wisdom gathered from this book is profound I'm doubtful any man can read it once and gained all it has to offer. I will be revisiting this book again soon. Cheers!

Amazing insight into human pysche

I loved this book. It explains my predicament and neuroses that I have. There are no easy solutions in life yet being aware of how one's psyche is always trying to compensate brings awareness to one's actions and all the consequences that come with it.

Amazing book. Terrible narrator.

Where does Modern Man in Search of a Soul rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is an amazing life changing book. But not audiobook

Would you be willing to try another one of Christopher Prince’s performances?

If Christopher Prince turned out to be the worlds first AI, this would not come as a surprise. He reads just like a text to speech application. It ruined the feeling of the whole book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As I said in my title this book was amazing.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant and still relevant to modern man today

Jung has captured the nature of humanity and Western man’s struggle. The material is relatively timeless.

I liked the narrator because with complicated subjects you don’t want to be distracted by the voice. He speaks clearly, but a warning, somewhat robotic.

This book is timeless

This is a series of lectures given by Carl Jung about the spiritual problem of modern man. His insight about this problem is remarkable and very deep, he deals this problem with wisdom. He was a thoughtful person and his psychology point towards the fundamental problems and proposes some solutions for the problem of man. Very educated and it is a departure from Freud's psychology, in my opinion with more insight. I recommend this book. All 11 chapters are very rich in sight. I would recommend this book to people who are too intellectual to deal with faith. This kind of material gives you some encouragement to know you are not crazy in an educated world were the will of the consciousness is over emphazised which brings great distress to our psyche.

Why did I wait so long to listen to this book?

Where does Modern Man in Search of a Soul rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

That's my only regret: not listening sooner. This is one of those books that make a mark in your way of thinking about the state of humanity today.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Modern Man in Search of a Soul?

If you ever doubted you had a soul, this book will make you think again. But if you never doubted you had a soul, this book will make you appreciate it from a different perspective.

Which scene was your favorite?

Jung's comparison and contrast between psychology and religion supported some of the ideas I already had lingering in my own mind. This portion also opened some new questions, that still need to be answered.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is a portion of this book that moved me so that it still surfaces in conversations, long after finishing the book: that's the portion of the role parents have in the psychological development of adult persons.
