Millions of people suffer from autoimmunity whether they know it or not. The root cause of most weight gain, brain and mood problems, and fatigue, autoimmunity can take years - or even decades - for symptoms and a clear diagnosis to arise. Through years of research, Dr. Tom O'Bryan has discovered that autoimmunity is actually a spectrum, and many people experiencing general malaise are already on it.
Psoriasis is a skin condition affecting some two percent of the population, and occurs when the skin cells replace themselves too quickly. There are many different types, but the most common is chronic plaque psoriasis. The cause is unknown, but triggers are thought to include skin injury, sore throat or chest infections, certain drug treatments, sunburn, and stress. A specific form of arthritis is related to psoriasis.
Psoriasis can severely impact your standard of living. Those inflicted miss out on exciting social activities such as swimming because of the irritation and embarrassment. Individuals with psoriasis can have mild or severe psoriasis, and while mild cases aren't as nearly as bad, they still have to put up with it every day. An individual can try eating better, less acidic foods, and avoid the other types that cause the irritation to become even worse. They can also drink specific teas and use special creams to help aid and speed up the healing process.
Eating is an indispensable human activity. As a result, whether we realize it or not, the drive to obtain food has been a major catalyst across all of history, from prehistoric times to the present. Epicure Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin said it best: "Gastronomy governs the whole life of man."
Dr. Susan Blum describes the four-step plan that she used to treat her own serious autoimmune condition and helps countless patients reverse their symptoms, strengthen their immune systems, and prevent future illness. Dr. Blum's innovative method shows how to use food as medicine, understand the connection between stress and health, heal the gut and digestive system, and optimize liver function. The Immune System Recovery Plan is a groundbreaking, revolutionary way for people to transform their health.

Over 90 percent of the population suffers from inflammation or an autoimmune disorder. Until now, conventional medicine has said there is no cure. Minor irritations like rashes and runny noses are ignored, while chronic and debilitating diseases like Crohn's and rheumatoid arthritis are handled with a cocktail of toxic treatments that fail to address their root cause. But it doesn't have to be this way.
In Eat Dirt, Dr. Axe explains that it's essential to get a little "dirty" in our daily lives in order to support our gut bacteria and prevent leaky gut syndrome. Dr. Axe offers simple ways to get these needed microbes, from incorporating local honey and bee pollen into your diet to forgoing hand sanitizers and even ingesting a little probiotic-rich soil.
In The Microbiome Solution, Dr. Robynne Chutkan, a preeminent gastroenterologist, explains how the standard Western diet and our super-sanitized lifestyles are starving our microbiomes, depleting the "good bugs" that are crucial for keeping us healthy, and encouraging overgrowth of exactly the wrong types of bacteria, which can leave us vulnerable to a host of autoimmune and chronic health conditions.
For the last decade, Silicon Valley entrepreneur Dave Asprey has worked with world-renowned doctors and scientists to uncover the latest, most innovative methods for making humans perform better - a process known as "biohacking". In his first book, The Bulletproof Diet, he shared his biohacking tips for taking control of your own biology. Genetics and lifestyle are thought to be the two most important determinants of good health. But that is not the whole story. We have a second genome, our gut bacteria, that sets the dial on our bodies. Unlike our DNA, we can influence the gut bacteria, or microbiota, to optimize all aspects of our health.
Dr. Joe Pizzorno is convinced that lifelong good health rests on two key determinants: your exposure to toxins and your ability to process them in your body. While lifestyle, diet, and genetics all play major roles in well-being, many symptoms of declining health and chronic disease are rooted in toxic overload - our exposure to a barrage of chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, electromagnetic frequencies, and pollution that are the byproducts of modern life.
Debilitating brain disorders are on the rise - from children diagnosed with autism and ADHD to adults developing dementia at younger ages than ever before. But a medical revolution is underway that can solve this problem: Astonishing new research is revealing that the health of your brain is, to an extraordinary degree, dictated by the state of your microbiome - the vast population of organisms that live in your body and outnumber your own cells 10 to one.

I don't have psoriasis, but I have suffered from terrible eczema for over two decades. Since psoriasis, seb derm, acne and all of those conditions are very similar in their causes and symptoms, I was excited to find a book about psoriasis figuring maybe there was some info that would help an eczema sufferer as well. The narrator is very clear and well-spoken, however I found him to be a beat too slow for me. The listening experience was greatly improved when I sped it to 1.5 speed. As far as the content of the book, it's not poorly written, but it doesn't flow as well as other books. Still, you're not listening to this book for a deep, literary enlightenment; you're basically here to collect facts and ideas. This book has those and, though it doesn't mention anything about eczema in the title, eczema is mentioned and there is a section about eczema. I feel I gained some very helpful guidance from this book. It's definitely worth the price of admission, especially since there are not currently any other serious psoriasis/eczema type books on here except for the fake ones people piece together from internet articles, narrate, and call an 'audiobook.' This Pagano book is well researched and has decades of trial and error behind it. I like that he admits to the failures and how the program doesn't always work for everyone. A lot of these health books throw handfuls of anecdotes to make you think that snorting coconut oil and bathing in kerosene will cure all ills.
