How to survive and thrive from emotional abuse, set boundaries, and control your relationship

Emotional abuse is a form of violence that does not necessarily involve physical harm but can be similarly debilitating. This abuse works by chipping away at one’s self-esteem slowly, and most of the time, victims do not know that they are going through it. However, statistics state that nearly 60 percent of young women in the US underwent emotional abuse in a romantic relationship. Twenty-four percent of women who went through this experience never told anyone that they were dealing with abuse. However, an overwhelming 62 percent said that they are able to leave an abusive relationship because someone educated them and helped them to leave their abusive domestic partnership.

You are undergoing emotional abuse if a person behaves in a certain pattern that would make you feel fear, obligation, or guilt. The combination of these negative emotions can be dangerous to one’s mental health, and they leave long-lasting effects. Most of the time, perpetrators inflict harm through aggressiveness, denying your needs, and minimizing the harm that they have done. It is also very important to take note that most emotionally abusive relationships lead to physical abuse. That is why it is very important to understand what this problem is all about before it escalates.

This book will be devoted to providing a very detailed look at how to acquire a life free from an emotionally abused mindset, as well as an introductory and advanced education on how to successfully recover from it.

POWERFUL

This book spoke to the deep inner person. I am a survivor of emotional abuse from my father and both husbands. it's all I have ever known. My mother's acceptance of abuse taught me that you stay. I have been free now for 2yrs at the age of 49. Now that I am aware I'm active in my own healing and self-help. This book is absolutely amazing. I listen to it regularly. I recommend it to anyone who has suffered any form of abuse.

Understanding

Wow!! What an eye-opener this book was to me, my current relationship and life. I have seen many counselors in my life. I think they are very important but finding a good counselor is extremely hard, although worth continued efforts. Not only someone you can talk with but feel they understand and can relate to your situation.
Listening to this book helped me realize even more how many aspects of my life, affect me and how I react. I guess unfortunately, I have to admit I came from an abusive home. Sadly, my mother had emotional issues all her life. She turned to alcohol and was ultimately an alcoholic. She saw many doctors and took numerous medications for years. In the end she killed herself trying to escape her demons by purchasing unprescribed medication. Opioids!!! Before we ever heard of the OPIOID CRISIS we have today. Fortunately, I’m no longer frustrated, mad, upset, disappointed and or hurt due to the life I lived growing up. I realize my parents did their best but it didn’t work out well. Too many issues that we not able to be fixed. Although I do feel it affects me in ways of which I’ve not realized until listening to this book.
Jumping forward into my current relationship and marriage, which is verbally and mentally abusive. My husband and myself are both truly struggling! My husband also came from dysfunctional & abusive home.
I feel this book has given me a different perspective along with numerous suggestions to help me understand & ideally make positive changes in my life.
I would recommend it if you remotely feel you could be in an abusive situation. Not doubt, I will listen to it again making notes to be sure I didn’t miss anything.
