Publisher's Summary

How far would a man go to protect those he loved? For Gabriel Espinoza, the answer was simple: to the ends of the universe.

When a failed genetic test ruins his life, Gabriel and his fiancée prepare to run to a world where the laws aren't as strict. There they could remain, in peace, for the remainder of their days, their love unspoiled by the strict regime which controls the Dominion of Man.

But Fate is a cruel, fickle mistress.

Torn from the only woman he had ever loved, Gabriel is prepared to burn the galaxy to get her back.

How far would a man go to protect the empire he was sworn to uphold? For Andrew Espinoza, the answer was a bit more complicated.

Torn between family loyalty and his duty to his country, Andrew must infiltrate a rich and powerful clan to determine if they are plotting against the Dominion of Man, but while undercover he discovers something far darker and more dangerous is lurking in the shadows, and he is the only man who can stop it.

But Fate is a cruel, fickle mistress.

How far will Andrew go to ensure the success of his mission?

One brother must save himself; the other must save the universe. But can either survive long enough to achieve their goal?

.Sci fi at its best

What did you love best about Wraithkin?

Epicness. That's the only word I can think of to describe Wraithkin in order to encompass its complexity and pure awesomeness,Superb. When the culture you live in requires you to be " perfect" and being" Imperfect" has serious ramifications for you and your family you know the stakes are high. The fact that this is the "norm" here reaches deepand is a screaming sore across their history.I love how in depth the back story was I just wanted more and more .Il be excited to read book two to build on this excellent foundation and learn what happens to our beloved characters. The phrase "Fate is a cruel, fickle mistress" is used in the description of this book and she really really is in this book. The story in its entirety was astounding by starting out surprisingly and unfolding in an incredible way that only increased my adoration for both Jason Cordova's amazing mind and Rob Saladino's talent .The determination of the characters in matters of the heart, loyalty to a cause and duty is awe inspiring.

What does Rob Saladino bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration by Rob Saladino is, as you would expect from him, very good. In the book's most exciting scenes towards the end the combination of Jason's words and this narrator provided top-notch audiobook entertainment. He helped create and define the world we live in for 9 hrs and 31 mins .

Good start to a series

Any additional comments?

3.5 stars

Good start to a series. Overall an entertaining and enjoyable listen. The story starts out a little slow and it took me a while to become really interested and be completely pulled in. Once I was, it had my full attention and kept it until the end. Once the story was over I was ready to start the next book in the series .

A society were you are judged by being "Perfect" or an" Imperfect". The classification of "Imperfect" has life altering effects for both the person labeled and their entire family.

Even though the story is predictable in some areas it is still complex enough with enough twists to make it a good solid story. Now that the basics of the conflict have been established, further additions to the series should be really good. That ending was unexpected. Not a cliffhanger really but almost. It will definitely make things more interesting. What about the rest of the Wraith's that were with Gabriel will the same offer be given to them?

Political intrigue, action, suspense, an alien war and loyalty to duty and family.

Interesting cast of characters. Of coarse the best characters are those Wraith's fighting alongside Gabriel. Even though it adds intrigue and mystery to the overall story the sections dealing with the political aspects of the story were much less interesting and I just wanted to get back to the Wraith's.

Rob Saladino did a good job with the narration. Nice voice. Easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Really good character voices. He was able to bring the characters and story to life. Several mispronounced words throughout the book. Which pulls you out of the story every time you hear one. Overall though very enjoyable.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.
A good start and well worth this listen.

A military Sci-Fi the base setting is nothing new for people that like Sci-Fi, yet the bits we see are handled believably and the characters fit within it. The writing and narration are solid but at times are lacking that little extra that would push it to five stars.

The base plot seems simple but the book lays some groundwork for the next book which seems like it may become something interesting later. I will be interested to see what happens next. The is clearly more to this setting than we get to see in this book and I would be interesting to learn more about it’s history and the things in it.

I am happy with the time I spent listening to this. All in all a good start and well worth this listen.

I little rough but I got into it.

This book has some rough spots especially in the beginning. There isn't anything really new or exciting about the plot or storyline but I still enjoyed the book. The social issues and the political side to the story were the most interesting for me. I look forward to the next in the series.

The Kin Wars

Found it tough to get into this book and was not really for me.

Rob Saladino does a good job.

military SciFi book

I was gifted this audio ARC from the author/ Narrator for a honest and unbiased review.
Jason Cordova did an ok job writing this book. But I believe a touch more editing would of enhanced the reading a lot better.
Rob Salado no was ok as well, once again much more editing on the audio side of things.
I was almost ready to give up listening after about 30 mins. Actually did but went back later in the day and found it easier to listen to. So if you are reading this, give the book time.
For a military Sci-fi book it works but be advised here is some bad language in it.

A military SciFi book

Any additional comments?

A well written story with plenty of action and spy adventure with political intrigues. There is also romance and has moments on family and friendship.
The characters I thought are well written and felt real. However it does contain a lot of bad language which some people might not like. I believe that it would not have taken anything away from the book if the swearing was taken out. I have listened to and read other military SciFi books that contain no bad language and I thought they were really good. Which shows how good the author is.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audio book at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator.

Needs an editor!!

Look, authors and narrators expend enormous time and effort to get an audio book up and distributed on Audible and other commercial platforms. So why was Rob Saladino's performance not edited? His delivery was pleasant and characterizations well delineated and believable but.... there are so many mispronunciations that as an audio presentation, I could not finish. If some one had just listened prior to placing this book for public consumption and corrected the pronunciations this book would have received 4 maybe 5 stars. As it is I had to step away. Jason Cordova's novel has merit but in this format, I can not recommend it. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. With the proper editing,I would be happy to listen to other work by these two gentleman.

Space opera on the campy side.

Would you listen to Wraithkin again? Why?

I would continue the series, but I have too much on my todo list to listen to this again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The characters were well drawn with sweeping strokes.

What three words best describe Rob Saladino’s voice?

Mr. Saladino would work well with YA materials. He mispronounced some basic words, turret and capillary come to mind. That distracted from the action a bit.
Mostly his enthusiasm carried across well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No single moments stick out particularly. The story was predictable, but that's why I and many others enjoy this genre.
