Publisher's summary

When the Rho Project’s lead scientist, Dr. Donald Stephenson, is imprisoned for his crimes against humanity, the world dares to think the threat posed by the Rho Project’s alien technologies is finally over. The world is wrong. In Switzerland, scientists working on the Large Hadron Collider have discovered a new threat, a scientific anomaly capable of destroying the earth - and only Rho Project technology can stop it. In exchange for a full pardon, Dr. Stephenson agrees to create a wormhole that will send the anomaly into deep space.

But his promise masks the alien agenda that brought the Rho Ship to earth. Now a trio of accidentally altered humans must infiltrate Stephenson’s wormhole project and stop it, no matter the cost. The final battle has begun - and this is one battle mankind cannot afford to lose.

Absolutely 5-Star. Leaves you wanting more!

Any additional comments?

All I can say is WOW. After listening to hundreds of SciFi and espionage/political intrigue books, I finally decided to write a review. No, three reviews. After this one, maybe I won't write any more. If you read my reviews of the previous two books in the series, you know that I've fallen in love with this story, the characters, the author's writing style and the excellence of the narrations. This third in the series tops off the story perfectly. It not only gives a satisfying completion to the story, it still leaves openings for other story spins to be worked in the future. I don't expect everyone will have the reaction I've had but if you like this series enough to be checking out book three, I expect you are already hooked. You might as well give in to the pull. You will not be disappointed in this final entry...but you will be wishing it could go on and on...

I understand the Richard Phillips is working on a prequel about Jack Gregory (The Ripper) called "Once Dead" due to come out later this year. It's about how he came to have his special talents and powers. I can't wait! The author's plans, I think, are to write three books in "The Ripper" series and then start on a series about 20 years in the future that focuses on Robbie and the adventures of the Rho Agenda characters in the new world that all this alien encounter has created. I usually don't experience this thing of being a "Fan" but it looks like I'm captive now and I will be waiting anxiously for every book he produces.

Conclusion or just a hiatus till the fourth book?

What made the experience of listening to Wormhole the most enjoyable?

First of all I have to say comparing from book one to book three it just seems like two different authors almost. Book one was so meandering and slightly boring, but by book three the action is high intensity and way more interesting. I enjoyed the small glimpses into the alien world and description of them. I wish we had learned more about both races, but I'm very satisfied with where the story went. I see they left a bit of a hope for a fourth book there at the end. I would buy it just to hear more of the story.

Any additional comments?

I wish I could go back to my original review on book one and put a notation in saying to stick with the story because it gets better.

.....Young Adult Enters Adolescence.....

The third novel in this trilogy continues its move towards a more aggressive story. This seems like more of a Spy Thriller than the Young Adult Science Fiction that the first novel so obviously stereotyped. Here Phillips even throws in a few F bombs just to avoid that PG-13 rating. This book works best on the story level. Phillips clearly had a good idea of the entire story arc, because the ending works so well with the previous two books. Richard Phillips is an author with promise. It is unclear if he will become a Robert Heinlein or a Michael Crichton — The latter, I think. His strengths in plotting will be better served in the Techno-Thriller genre. If you like this series you may like the DAEMON set by Daniel Suarez.

After listening to MacLeod Andrews through these three books I can say that he is a good fit for this series. He is so earnest and sincere that even when some of his female characters come off as a little too butch he does not detract from the enjoyment.

Great ending

This was one of the best literary series I've ever enjoyed. I wish it didn't have to come to a close. Although the other books were flawless, this one had too many side stories. They were really not that relevant to the main story line. The narrator was good but needs to work on his voices.

Adrenalin rush till the end

After taking this whole series back to back, it was a nice finish. Clean and filled with options for a series on one of the characters for solo adventures.

Very enjoyable series

I can easily recommend this series. Except for a bit of a performance issue during the first book, it is definitely a good read / listen.

Enjoy!
