Publisher's summary

From HiJinks Ink Publishing and Shannon Mayer comes Windburn (Book Four) in The USA Today best-selling Elemental series. With over one million books sold, Shannon Mayer proves once again she can dominate her genre right out of the gate.

"My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental."

My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I should be at my father's side as a royal princess. But as a half-breed, bastard child, that isn't going to happen.

The King is missing and his mind is cracked. It is up to me to find him before the Rim is taken over by the bloodthirsty heir to the throne.

But the path to finding the King is anything but straight, and I find myself in the human world facing possible banishment. All to find a Tracker who happens to be on the run from a demon, yet she is my only hope in bringing my father home.

Nothing is as it seems and I'm uncertain who is friend or foe. My impending punishment threatens to suffocate me as I defy our laws and fight to bring peace to my home...and fight to keep those I love the dearest alive.

How will I get both my father and I out of this one unscathed? Welcome to being The Chosen One.

Very nice weaving of stories

If you haven’t read the Rylee Adamson series, you might want to. It isn’t needed, but it does give added depth to this book and this one gives more depth to that series as well. It gives some intriguing background information to that series and I really like how these stories intertwine without being repetitive. Emotions abound in this book and are well portrayed by the narrator. There’s only one voice I noticed she used that didn’t feel to me like it matched the book description, but that was one minor moment and not truly important. Just over an hour left and the sorrow and horror is visceral.

I love this series, it's a winner!

I am finally starting to understand all of the different elements and how they work it is a very intriging storyline! I bought all of the series up to the 6th one "ASH" I really tried to listen to it because I bought it by mistake not realizing it was a completely different story and narrator but it was just too confusing trying to keep up with Ash's version and the series itself so I returned it and moved to this 7th series. Not saying it was bad it's just too much for my Lyme brain to handle!

Awesome book!!!

Lark is one of my favorites. She keeps getting stronger and is so resilient. She keeps trying to help her loved ones but only gets shit for doing everything that she has done. Only a select few stand beside her. I love Lark and Peta's relationship. So many twists and turns makes it hard to stop listening to this book/series. I need to know what happens. I definitely need more of Ash! Cant wait to start the next book not sure why I have not read/listened to this book sooner. As with the whole series Lauren Fortgang has done a fabulous job. I love listening to her!

Of Elementals and Man

Book 4 of The Elemental Series is another great read. Following the adventures of Larkspur the Elemental on her journey to rescue her father, The King. This story picks up where Book 3 left off and it's non-stop action from the first page.
Lark faces banishment from her home if she continues on her quest. Life is never easy for our heroine but you can expect her to do what is right. Throw in some demons, a Tracker and more Elementals and you get a wild ride that can't help but be stormy.

I love this series

I listened to this installment three times in a row. There’s just so much going on and so many things are uncovered. I made connections to other parts of the story, that I didn’t pay enough attention to before. Lark is really embracing her powers in this one and she starts to accept her role as destroyer. All these entwining strings are so much bigger than this one book. Excellent work and great world building.

Great adventure

I enjoyed listening to Windburn. So much happened to Larkspur it's almost hard to keep up. I do love Peta! She makes me laugh. All of the characters are so interesting and complex. The narrator does a great job with the different voices. She makes it easy to get lost in the story.

Captivating

This book had me captivated right from the start! This series has been amazing and it is easy to care about the characters. When I have to stop listening I am always wondering what will happen next and I am never disappointed when I start listening again.

I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review.
