An unknown vessel, not of this world, materializes in London. A colossal figure towering over the city, it makes no move. Is this a peaceful first contact or the prelude to an invasion? Every child has nightmares. But the only thing scarier than little Eva Reyes' dreams - apocalyptic visions of death and destruction - is the habit they have of coming true....

Scientist Dr Rose Franklin has no memory of the last few years. The strangers she works with say she died and was brought back to life. The question is not just how...but why?

Kara Resnik and Vincent Couture fell in love during war, and have found peace since. They are the thin line of defence against what is coming. But they do not know they have been living a lie. And a man who claims to have the answers has his own agenda. There are things he cannot say - and others he won't.

All pieces of an epic puzzle. One we have been trying to solve since the dawn of time....

    "A must read/listen!"

    Absolutely brilliant.
It's not often an author manages to keep the tension, the humour and the plot going in second books but this one is equal, if not better than the first! Oh, and what a different twist we are given to the norm, really didn't see that one coming! Excellent narration, giant fighting robots, humour, way out there but believable Sci-fi, you're missing a gem if you don't give this a go.

    "Fantastic"

I loved it all. Looking forward to Visiting the God's. A brilliant book that had me sitting on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Ten out of ten for the story, narration, voices, plot and suspense. Definitely in my top 5 of my collection of 1214 audio books. Bravo.

"Not as good as the first book"
What made the experience of listening to Waking Gods the most enjoyable?

Overall I did enjoy this book - even though this is perhaps because I enjoyed the first so much.<br/>This book did start off a little like Smithard's "The Stone Man" but not as interesting. I think the originality of the first book was lost and not replaced with much, and all they could think off was bringing in more robots.

    "First class in every way!"

Exciting, innovative script, fantastic narration, dymanic tension - every aspect of this book was just as good as the previous book, which I thought impossible. I heartily recommend both these books. And I hope there's a sequel - I need more! Great read if you love sci-fi and mystery. I usually only read thrillers and I'm so glad I took a chance on this. 5 big stars

    Story
    "A very enjoyable listen"

This was a really enjoyable second instalment of the Themis files. Overall I liked the plot. It does get a little hammy at times, but this is forgivable, given that it's a story about giant alien robots. The ensemble cast brings the story to life well. There are a few instances where I think the performances are a little off (the geneticist with the stutter is annoying and made me think my iPhone had broken, and the person playing the 10 year old was clear a fully grown adult). However, these are minor gripes and don't massively detract from the overall story. I really like how each chapter is a file/recording/interview. Waking Gods is an interesting, enjoyable piece of sci fi escapism and is well worth a listen.

    "Great listen..."

I left a decent review for the first book, though looking back I think I was a little harsh. This is a great series and this second book doesn't disappoint. Great story. Listened to all 9hours in a day! Bring on no. 3!

    Story
"Compelling sequel, though a bit heavy handed"

I loved the first book and by all accounts this was a great sequel, I finished it across 3 days which is a complement coming from me! Some have said it suffered from "difficult second book syndrome" but for the most part I had no problem with the story, it was enjoyable and kept me guessing through to its conclusion.

The only issue for me was the occasional cheesy or over dramatic dialogue and decisions of some characters (Kara & Vincent, I'm looking at you) which took me out of the story to either cringe a little or scratch my head at their choices. In some cases it was forgivable, in others it didn't "fit" for me... but hey, it kept it unpredictable.

"Can't wait for the next one"

At times, the way these books are presented as a series of interviews or recordings seemed a little tiring, but in general all of the narrators did a great job, the characters are believable and the story gripping.

Hopefully book 3 will be available soon!

    "Great Production"

This is a great audiobook! It's like listening to a radio production. Engaging story, great voice acting, fast paced, emotional spikes, and even comedic undertones. You will enjoy if you liked The Martian, Ready Player One and World War Z.
