A satisfactory ending to a good trilogy

Where does Voice of the Gods rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not as impressive as JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire but better than The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel and Trudi Canavan's Black Magician's trilogy and other books set in that fantasy world. Worse than Sherlock Holmes, better that James Bond, equal with the Vorkosigan saga.

What other book might you compare Voice of the Gods to and why?

Trudi Canavan's black Magician trilogy's "The High Lord" as it also concludes as series, includes a "forbidden" love affair and leave the "fantasy universe" in which it plays out completely changed, but I think this book is a bit better.

Which character – as performed by Sarah Douglas – was your favorite?

The veeze Mischief.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really, but it was easy enough to follow and at places it drew me in.

Any additional comments?

I thought the way the game pieces in this game of chess turned on those moving them was an excellent idea.

Trudi Canavan: entertaining as always

Really enjoyed this trilogy, I like the diverse characters and the twists, spins, surprises and changes of allegiance.

There is a depth to the characters, and their flaws, mistakes and uncertainties are refreshing.

Weaving and connecting seemingly disjointed lands, peoples, lives and powers, the whole comes together satisfyingly well, yet leaving a window open a crack at the very end...

The narrator was consistently enjoyable, as she has been throughout. Lending a noticeable difference to the characters voices and mannerisms that makes this a pleasure to listen to.

Excellent

I loved the storyline and the pace. This final chapter was a little simplistic and I had worked out the ending (no spoilers here) however I still enjoyed the journey.

I am a huge fan of Trudi Canavans writing but I preferred the Black Magician trilogy although this is definitely worth a read!
