Publisher's summary

Following his last adventure, Trevor "Lex" Alexander's life has managed to return to normal. He's back to splitting his time between delivering packages and transporting passengers, along with the occasional foray into testing highly experimental equipment. He's even gotten back together with his girlfriend, Michella Modane, who has been launched to stardom by her coverage of the Bypass Gemini incident. Yes, things are going quite well for Lex. But in his life, luck like this never lasts long.

Sure enough, while he is preparing for a rare visit from Michella, he receives word that the reclusive inventor Karter Dee has been kidnapped. The eccentric and slightly deranged inventor's checkered past has made getting the authorities involved out of the question. That has left "Ma", the AI in charge of cooking his meals and reining in his insanity, with few options. She has reached out to Lex as one of the few people she can trust and needs him to help assemble a team of Karter's former allies to take him back before his latest contraptions can be put to work terrorizing the populace at the hands of his captors.

Great story, Poor narrating

this series is a lot of fun but I have to warn you you'll be distracted by the narrator's poor performance throughout. In most cases even a mediocre narration can be overlooked when the story is this good but this narrator makes every character sound basically the same. even though he tries different voices and somewhat succeeds, they all sound wimpy, Young, nasally and almost all of them speak with something of a lisp. it's an affectation that I find extremely distracting. I will be buying the next book in the series and I highly recommend it, but be ready to put up with narration that is far from the best.

Great story

This is a fun story with interesting characters. It is seriously let down by the narrator. I have never heard someone drone in multiple voices, but this narrator manages just that. He also swaps voices mid conversation, so for instance the woman starts having a male British voice and vice versa. The narrator gives the impression that he is completely uninterested in what he is reading. Not paying attention to who is talking, not paying attention to what's being said, to the point of saying complete gibberish sometimes.

Overall I am very disappointed. This is one of my favorite independently published series, and having this as the official audible version of the book really brings the whole series down.

Humorous action.

The story was almost ruined by the narrator’s inability to create excitement and to differentiate between characters.
