Publisher's Summary

Two worlds filled with pawns, and only the twinborn understand the game.

Kyrus Hinterdale is about to get drawn into a conflict, the likes of which he could never have imagined. His discovery that the world in his dreams is real, and that his twin within that world dreams of him, sets him off on a quest of self-discovery that could reshape two worlds. He is not alone with this special vision. Others like him had been at it far longer, working secret plots and stealing secrets from one world to take advantage in the other. Caught in the middle of an ancient conflict, Kyrus and his twin, Brannis, must discover who can be trusted, who must be watched, and who is out to kill them.

The Twinborn Trilogy is an Amazon best-selling epic fantasy series with multiple point of view characters. If you love Wheel of Time, The Stormlight Archive, or A Song of Ice and Fire, you're probably used to waiting years between books. The Twinborn Trilogy offers excitement, epic battles, and a fresh and interesting premise, all contained within a completed series.

66 hours with this narrator...

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator is very monotone, and undynamic which is very hard to get past. Then there are the edits. Multiple times, mid-sentence, the editor cut in retakes that were not level matched and possibly another person. That makes for a very poor listening experience.

Could you see Twinborn Trilogy Collection being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.

Any additional comments?

Gonna push through, hopefully the production value gets better.

Couldn't get past the narrator

Sorry just couldn't get past the narrator. Monotone, and the few attempts at a unique voice was just bad. Even the characters sounded like they were reading a book. Thought I was getting a good deal but feel like I just burned a credit.

Few months later im in a dry spell of credits, so I try again. Made it through part 1 of 6, and just bought more credits to get something good instead of finishing. I think the story might be good, but there are so many characters and so few voices. Give this to

This has to be the worst recording on audible.

Story not bad but the narrator needs to rethink audio books. Recording is very poor ie bad audio. The volume of the speaker was up and down. I almost asked for my credit back.

half a chapter in...

not half way thru the first chapter and already hate the narrator. super quiet and monotone. pretty sad about it. going to keep trying but if you can't get past the voice of that one history teacher you had in 10th grade going on about world history..... you will hate this voice.

good tale, sadly in need of a copy editor

What did you like best about Twinborn Trilogy Collection? What did you like least?

good collection of paralell stories, but badly read, and in serious need of a copy editor

Who was your favorite character and why?

many of the characters were quite good

What didn’t you like about Shawn Compton’s performance?

1. mispronunciations 2. wrong inflections 3. inability to articulate the spirit of the story 4. poor grasp of the flow of dialogs 5. inability to voice different characters differently 6. inability to voice any of the characters with sympathy or conviction or particularity 7. inability to get into the rhythm of the characters, etc., etc.

Admittedly, the reader's job is made much more difficult by the weak wording of the story. A copy editor with a strong understanding of English is much needed. And, rather obviously, the archaic language sometimes thrown in (just for "atmosphere" it would seem) should be left out if it cannot be used correctly. A better reader would have simply reworded at the awkward places.

Could you see Twinborn Trilogy Collection being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I'd concentrate on getting a better editor and reader first.

Any additional comments?

I wonder if the author made chances post editing or if the editor was really so bad with language. Either way, another editor is needed.

Beautiful Story and Intriguing Plots

the voice over from the preformer distracts from the experience, although partway though the first book he manages to find a rythum and it becomes better. the audio quality shifts, the poorly and decernable audio cuts and edits, as well as the neutral tomber of his nairation take much from what can only be described as a whirlwind of information and fantasy that is this story. Dispight the performance shortcomings the authors voice carries over and still manages to captivate a listener in a telling of 2 worlds, as well as give rise to colourful and well thought out characters. i would definatly recomend a READ of this book over listening to it in this audio book, but if thats not what lies in the cards take a trip into the magical world of the Twinborn.

complex, and compelling.

loved the book. Audio quality needs more consistency. you'd think Amazon could afford editing software to bring everything to the same volume. most chapters are very crisp, and loud. others I can barely hear.

Narration Killed the Book

What didn’t you like about Shawn Compton’s performance?

I have no idea if the actual book is decent or not. I couldn't get past the narrators extremely monotone voice. I listened for about 40 minutes and had to stop. The book may be good or bad. Over all I am sad I wasted a credit on this.

it could be good but..

I couldn't get past the narration. The narrator took unnaturally long pauses between each sentence as if he were uncomfortable or unsure of his reading.

I only made it a single chapter in before I had to return this one, for all I know it could be an incredible story, but I'll never know unless I buy the paper novel.

Great Story.. TERRIBLE PERFORMANCE/EDITING

I normally only leave stars but for this I had to write up something. First off the story is great and I love the concept behind it. But the Narrator and Editor/Producers... What on earth were you thinking..??!!???...???
- Performance: I'm sorry Mr. Shawn Compton but your acting needs some work. If the story didn't say emotions I would have never had a clue. You did everything so deadpan. There was several times a deadpan statement would then end in "said enthusiastically". Also you mispronounced so many words.
- Editor/Producers: Were you asleep?
First off I could hear pages turning all through book which was a minor annoyance.
Second.... DID YOU EVEN EDIT OR LISTEN TO THIS BOOK??? During part 3 there was a 3 minute block of dead air MID-SENTENCE... Plus starting with chapter 37, and 39 the quality of the recording went from 'Meh' to TERRIBLE. I had to turn the bass all the way down and the treble all the way up just to make it sound normal.

Audiobook folks - if you only pay attention to the story and dont care about acting, quality, and brief blackout periods where you lost parts of the story then this audiobook is for you.

To Audible... If you can please reach out to the company sponsoring this production and find out what on earth happened. You finish all of your items with "Tell us so we know we are bringing you quality audiobooks" in this case... this is not a quality audiobook.

Disappointing listening

Tried this as a new author to my library and quite disappointed. Story mediocre and narration highly irritating, constant changes of narrative voice mid sentence as well as sound quality becoming muffled then clear.

average but worth listening

A decent book overall, though the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. Removing Juliana/Sorya from this story would have gained it another review star, I don't think I've ever found a more irritating and predictable character in a book otherwise full of interesting ones. Despite this the book is worth your time and I'd recommend it.

Disappointing

A long slog of characters you don’t care about. The accents were terrible and writing lacking any depth, I was really disappointed and would not recommend it. A good story written and then read badly.

Very good story, really enjoyed exploring the world and learning about the ways magic worked. My only issue was the ending seemed a bit rushed.

Held back by a lacklustre performance

The narrator is really not very good though he makes less mistakes at the end of the 60 hrs of speech he's still as monotonous and bland. The production is also terrible, there's a 3 minute silence on the end of a chapter and fully half the book sounds like someone put a bag over the microphone, the narrator or both.

The story itself is quite good but struggled to hold my attention due to the performance. I genuinely found it a struggle to listen to all of it.
