Publisher's Summary

Druid Atticus O’Sullivan hasn’t stayed alive for more than two millennia without a fair bit of Celtic cunning. So when vengeful thunder gods come Norse by Southwest looking for payback, Atticus, with a little help from the Navajo trickster god Coyote, lets them think that they’ve chopped up his body in the Arizona desert.

But the mischievous Coyote is not above a little sleight of paw, and Atticus soon finds that he’s been duped into battling bloodthirsty desert shape-shifters called skinwalkers. Just when the Druid thinks he’s got a handle on all the duplicity, betrayal comes from an unlikely source. If Atticus survives this time, he vows he won’t be fooled again. Famous last words.

What the Critics Say

“[Kevin] Hearne is a terrific storyteller with a great snarky wit.... Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.” ("SFF World", on Hounded)

“[Atticus is] a strong modern hero with a long history and the wit to survive in the 21st century.... A snappy narrative voice...a savvy urban fantasy adventure.” (Library Journal, on Hounded)

"Perfect match of author and narrator"
Would you listen to Tricked again? Why?

I have already listened to this book more than once. I love this series and listen to the books in this series when I don't have anything new to listen to.

What other book might you compare Tricked to and why?

The only thing I can compare it to is the other books in the series.

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

His narrations never disappoint me. Every character has his own voice and the story flows along perfectly. His timing is perfect and I can easily picture what is happening.

    Any additional comments?

I love these books. It is wonderful to find a series where the author writes an interesting series and it is read by a narrator who brings the characters to life in such a way that I can "see" what is happening just by listening to him read.

    "Oberon the Spy"

Another good story with Atticus and Oberon helping Coyote, (a shape shifter), and some Arizona Navajo Indians. Atticus has been trying to disappear off of the magical grid for quite some time so that he can train a new Iron Druid. Just when he thinks he may have succeeded, Coyote shows up and bribes him into helping him rid a piece of desert from some pretty nasty skin walkers, (man, tiger, serpent mix).

Action adventure and an unexpected visit from and old friend soon to be foe, keeps the wonderful Chronicle wheels turning. The narration is as always first rate and I loved the teaser at the end. Will Granuail pass her Druid training and become the only other Iron Druid walking the earthly plain?

    "Once again, great"

I was afraid from the title that there would be a lot of Coyote in here (I hate his performance) and ... there was but he was performed so much better.

beyond that, the story was amazing. the action had me on the edge of my seat. I am amazed with the consistency and also imagination the author has in crafting the way Atticus has to escape from scenarios.

    "Excellent story writing."

Love the entire series. Catching up on the mid books now and preparing for the next book. Great book for those like me who enjoy imaginative story telling. Luke Daniels performance reading and exclamations especially with Oberon his hound made this an addictive series for me.

"why does everything have to be political? ?"

I want to enjoy a fantasy book, not hear a political platform. racism, anti white rhetoric, and BS environmentalism. Complete waste of time and money.

    "Entertaining, but driven by folly"

    Spoilers -

I like this book because I like the series and the voice acting. There are some great moments. However, the are some seriously implausible plot driven oversights. For example: Characters discuss the bad guys who will come to kill them after dark. Hours later no one batts an eye when a guy says he's going to town just before dark?
