Publisher's Summary

Khorii, the rebellious daughter of the near-mythic Acorna and her lifemate, Aari, has followed in Acorna's footsteps, leading their people from danger, but the pressure to succeed and fulfill a legacy is tremendous.

For the deadly foe that has ravaged the known worlds and weakened even her famous parents has launched its final assault, and only Khorii and her newly discovered sister, Ariin, are able to stop the brutal attack.

But success is elusive, and fragile, and even time itself may not be enough to help their desperate quest to save their family, much less the universe.

Spend some more time with Acorna's Children.

Critic Reviews

"Combining colorful characterizations, lots of fast-paced action, and a decided sense of menace, all leavened by a heavy dose of humor....this is entertaining fare, indeed." (Booklist)

Great Book, Not-So-Great Reading

I love the "Acorna's Children books, but the versions read by Ms. Lauren Davis were a waste of my money. Her voice is most suitable to little children's books in that she sounds like a child herself, but doesn't carry the characters in these books. Between the "little girl" quality and the mispronunciation of some words, the stories lose their enjoyment for me. I'm glad other versions are available and I'll buy them when I can afford them.

concern for content

While I am excited to read the newest book in this series, and think it is well written. I am not todally impressed with the prezentation of this particular book. In the past I have read the Acorna books and the Acorna's children's books through a different serviCE> I NOTICED HOW EVER IN THE AUDIBLE VERSION THEY DO NOT MAKE AN EFFORT TO USE THE GUIDE FOR TRANSLATION WHILE READING> Where this would usually be a minor anoyence while doing a book report I believe that this takes away from the expierience of reading the book. From reading author's notes in the last book.,it seems Anne McCafrey and Elizabeth Scarburro worked hard to make this lossary, and the rules for the language. Unfortunatly this offten gets ignored for sci fi writers who have a purpose in making the words or proper names sound different. Where I don't believe that they should have to read the glossary, it would be nice if they made a concerted effort in this case to atleast try to use the prenunciation guide for while they read this novel.
On thee other hand the narator for this series fits the characters well voice wise, and it does make the book a bit more personalized to the series.
