Publisher's summary

On the heels of Dhampir, Barb and J.C. Hendee's acclaimed Fantasy debut, comes Thief of Lives, the new novel featuring Magiere and Leesil, Slayers of the Undead....

Magiere the dhampir thinks that her nights of hunting vampires are over. After settling down in her newly adopted village of Miiska - now vampire free, thanks to her and her half-elf partner, Leesil - she looks forward to quiet days tending to her tavern. But far away in the capital city of Bela, a prominent councilman's daughter has been found dead on her own doorstep...and all signs point to a vampire.

Knowing that the battered and burned village of Miiska could use an infusion of cash, Bela's town council offers a generous bounty to the dhampir if she will slay their vampire. Magiere resists, wanting nothing more than to forget her past and ignore her half-vampire nature. Only Leesil can persuade Magiere to follow her destiny - before more innocent lives are claimed by darkness.

Great Listen

I must admit that with Book 1, Dhampir, I was having trouble getting used to the narrator. But they've grown on me as I listened through this book. I read the books first, years ago. And it has been really great fun reliving these books through audiobook.

Great series, nice consistent narration

What did you love best about Thief of Lives?

The story itself is intriguing and gets me out exercising as I do not allow myself to listen other than running or biking. LOVE this series, even if my legs do not.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Magiere

What about Tanya Eby’s performance did you like?

One of the biggest frustrations with Audible books in a series is Audible's practice of using different narrators for different books of the same series and those narrators do not bother to listen to the pronunciation of names in the prior book and/or the same narrator changes their accents - this series is consistent with a narrator who is consistent in her pronunciations and she doesn't do weird things with her voice.

It’s alright.

Not bad for those time when you want a lite fluff fantasy. Not quite as good as I remember reading the books a few years back.

I can listen to it only cause I really like story

I can hear every breath taken in by the VA it's very distracting after a while, the moment you notice it it's impossible to ignore. And the lady is reading it as if it was some kind of erotica basically moaning the text... ugh.
This reading style isn't to my liking, but that is just my opinion.
It's a shame, cause I really like the books of this series.
I recomend to read it yourself.
