Publisher's summary

A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

The fifth book in the million-copy bestselling Kingfountain series from Jeff Wheeler.

Courtly intrigue and rumors of invasion plunge Kingfountain into turmoil as the search for Trynne’s father begins in earnest. But Trynne’s quest to learn the truth of Owen’s sinister disappearance is sidetracked when tragedy strikes her family once again. Suddenly, the future of the kingdom rests in her hands as she struggles to learn - and control - the power that can keep the threatening Deep Fathoms at bay.

When King Gahalatine unleashes his overwhelming forces against the realm, Trynne must draw on her political instincts, warrior training, and Fountain-blessed magic if she hopes to survive the chaos to come. But a final, epic confrontation will force Trynne into an unimaginable choice: save her kingdom and the lives of her people, or lose the one who means more to her than life itself.

I'll take Jeff Wheeler over George Martin anyday

Seriously. While I do think George Martin is a talented writer and world-builder, I think Wheeler writes his characters fantastically. They're realistic: they feel and fear and love and overcome obstacles. Better yet: there's no gratuitous sex and profanity so yay for that!

Trynne has become one of my favorite heroines of all time, and Kate Rudd voices her perfectly.

Trynne for Queen

Are you looking for a series with badass women who wield swords and save kings? This is the series for you. I've never been so obsessed with a series besides Harry Potter as I am the Kingfountain series by Jeff Wheeler. Five books in, I'm deeply committed to the Kiskadon family, Trynne, the realm of Kingfountain, and the happiness of Owen and Sinia. I have CONSUMED these books, read so perfectly by Kate Rudd, that I was devistated to find out that I had to wait for book six to come out.

Usually, by the 6th novel, readers understand the game, know what's going to happen, and are prepared for the wheel of time to resurrect cliches, challenges, and cliffhangers. NOT JEFF WHEELER. Even in book five, Wheeler surprised me, made me cry, made me laugh, and made me late for work because I sat in the parking lot waiting for a chapter to end.

He's done it again

I'm completely obsessed with Jeff Wheelers books. This series has taken me through w world wind of emotions and I'm wholely invested in the characters. Nothing felt rushed and the plot twists were unpredictable which is exactly the way I like it! I can't wait to see what's next.

Getting Even Better

I have loved the advancement of this series. Not only do we continue to get more characters, also well developed and deep, but we get a truly interesting story.

Though, through fountain blessed, we had magic the whole time I felt it grew even more in this book. Not so much that it's hard to stay involved but enough that I noticed it. The world is opening up to much larger scale and will have many .ore characters coming in the next addition to this series I am sure.

As always Kate Rudd comes off with another flawless performance for Jeff Wheeler. I am again waiting on pins and needles for the next book. I almost want it to never end.

This is how you merge worlds!

Mr. Wheeler has made a beautiful setting and great set of stories merge together into a cohesive world. Of course, I started my reading with Muirwood and the Mirrowen series of books, and through Muirwood, I learned of Kingfountain. This is the book that brings all three worlds together! He still hasn’t fleshed out how all the worlds mesh in the absolute terms, but if you have jumped into the other worlds, you will see the connections clearly.

That is the most exciting part of this book to me. The story is great, as are the characters. If you’re this deep in, then you already know that I is awesome. However, as an aspiring author, it’s his melding of his 3 distinct worlds that has me enthralled.

On to book six.
