Publisher's summary

On the brink of a disaster that could end all human life on Earth, tech genius Robert Eisenbraun joins a team of scientists in Antarctica on a mission to Jupiter's moon Europa to mine a rare ore that can provide for Earth's long-term energy needs. But as he and the rest of the team train under the ice shelf in preparation for the long journey, trouble erupts. Before they embark, Eisenbraun finds himself the odd man out, and is put into cold sleep against his will.

When he wakes, Eisenbraun finds the ship deserted and no longer functional. He escapes to the surface of an Earth terribly changed. The plan has gone horribly wrong, but as he adapts to a hostile environment, he realizes that there is still a way to accomplish what the mission had set out to achieve. But he also discovers that he faces a new adversary of the most unlikely sort. Now his own survival, and that of the woman whose love has sustained him in his darkest hours, depends on the defeat of a technological colossus partly of his own making.

Confronting a foe that knows him almost as well as he knows himself, Eisenbraun faces the prospect of depending on resources he has reason to believe will be available on one particular night of a full moon - a night foretold by a mysterious, unseen ally to be a pivotal moment for the fate of the planet. The game has changed, and Earth's future depends on him and him alone.

The Omega Project is yet another edge-of-your-seat thriller by best-selling author Steve Alten and is sure to leave listeners looking for more.

FML

The narration was AMAZING, but the entire body of the book was horrid. Not just the entire body, but the opening and closing as well. I am one of those people that have to finish a book once I start. I'm sorry that I had to finish this one.

Interesting take on the future of humanity

This was an interesting story. It had some interesting twists. I hope the future of humanity is different from the one portrayed in this story.

Gorgeous Sci-Fi

This book had me hooked from the initial Chapters until the end….During the Read or (Audible), I found myself actually asking the same questions, the possibility of humanity and the EXCELLENT way the author executed the book through its entirety. 🤙 Read the OMEGA PROJECT

Wow. So much wasted potential...

The first half is interesting, but somewhat tropey, but when the second half kicks in everything is flipped on its head and leads into an almost M. Night Shyamalan quadruple twist ending that defies belief (and not in a good way).

Icke has dream-level plot armor that sets you up to fall into "its just a dream" logic that is revealed to be real so many times that I lost count.

The ending is a convoluted mess if "its a dream, he wakes up, but the waking up is just a dream" repetition that quickly loses the reader before finally ending up back where he's supposed to be. Only then he finds out in the epilouge that that wasn't real either.

Good Book, Inventive story, Chauvinistic at times

Let me preface this summary by saying this book is essentially three stories in one. The book starts off during a dystopian apocalypse then transitions into a futuristic sci fi drama. Then finishing back up into a dystopian sci-fi. The book is really inventive. The story will leave your head spinning. My only negative critique is the author’s seeming obsession with breasts. Every female character is introduced. Then explained how beautiful they are. Followed by how their breasts look.
Sometimes, this takes away from the story and main plot points. It almost gets comical after awhile. If you enjoy sci-fi and are not bothered by some sexist-ish writing. Then give this book a listen. PS the voice acting of this book is superb.

Decent Story Ruined by Author

An otherwise decent sci-fi story sadly ruined by the author’s injection of politics and a weird new-age Eastern mysticism.

Weird, very disappointing "ending"

The narration is actually very good, however there are weird stops and starts from the editing throughout the entire book. This crummy editing makes for pauses where there wouldn't normally be in conversation, or longer than normal natural pauses.

The real trouble is the general messiness of the story. There are just too many storylines all jumbled up and many never get elaborated on. This could have been a series, allowing for better, cleaner story development. Instead, the story was rushed, jumpy, jarring and very wierd.

Worst of all is the ending - a real mess and let down to the reader/listener. I *think* I understand what the author was *trying* to do - a la Sopranos ending - but it fell horribly flat and was massively disappointing. :/

Intelligence required

Such a great book. Full of turns you will not expect. You will think you know what’s coming, but a surprise awaits you. You have to pay attention though as missing a crucial moment might have you hitting the rewind button.
