Publisher's Summary

Dr. Aleron Kong is the father of American LitRPG. Join him in his best-selling LitRPG saga, The Land. The journey of terrifying adventures, dangerous enemies, and heart stopping wonder continues here.

"This is the world you were meant to fight for!"

Welcome to the sixth vivacious installment of Aleron Kong's Chaos Seeds series.

The time of hiding has passed. The Mist Village will make itself known. Goblins have invaded Richter’s lands. Though the first incursion has been defeated, the anger of Chaos Seed remains. Those who challenge Richter’s power will learn there is a reason all creatures fear the mist.... It is the home of monsters.

For the first time, Richter takes the battle to his enemies. He will live up to his name, and the very Land will shake with this power. With his allies, the wood sprites of Nadria, the army of the Mist Village marches to war. Richter has been a healer, an enchanter, a dungeon diver, and a killer. Now he becomes something more. He becomes a raider!

This is a world of wonder and horror. This is a world of pain and joy. This is the world of monsters...and the brave men who battle them. Welcome back my friends!

Welcome back...to The Land!

great book highly recommended

I absolutely love this series however the only complaint I have is that Richter never really seemed to do the main missions from previous books sure more missions keep adding on but he never really seems to clear out the backlog

1/2 of a good Chaos Seeds book

Not sure what "The Father" was going for with the first half of this book. Somehow he managed to make it through 5 hours of audio without advancing the story, portraying any real action, developing any of the characters, or exploring any of the myriad number of plot threads he's previously introduced... all the while avoiding to include the sassy humor and personality that we've come to expect and adore in all of the previous books.

Warning: there are no spoilers in this review, but I do discuss the pacing of the book. I make no mention of any events or plot points, but I do talk vaguely about the overall amount of action and excitement throughout the book.

One of my favorite aspects of this series is how Kong manages to squeeze so much into a single 12-14 hour installment. Usually we see Richter tackling tons of challenges, meeting new characters and developing deeper connections with those around him. We also usually see his progression as an rpg character develop in a number of directions, and he somehow manages to find a use for all the new skills. Thus the character sheet entries and achievement notifications don't present as a boring recitation of facts and instead create excitement and anticipation.

Why do I mention all of this? Because in this book he spends at least the first half of the book doing the opposite. The last book ended (as always) on a cliffhanger. Instead of using that to thrust this book into the next episode of Richter's travels, town-building, character development, and challenges, Kong spends hours going through a boring and seemingly unending re-hash of basic "house-keeping" in which he goes through status updates and mundane preparation. He doesn't touch on any of the exciting plot-threads that we all want to see explored and there is very little in the way of meaningful character development.

The second half of the book is much more satisfying and a return to the action we're used to, but it's not until the last two hours that Kong manages to create the depth and feel of endless possibility that are usually woven throughout the arc of most of his other installments.

In the end I was pretty disappointed with this book. It's only the fact that it ended up in a place where Kong got back on track that convinced me to recommend that fans of the series drop a credit on Raiders. I honestly feel like his editor could have struck out a continuous 5 hours from this book, and the readers would not have been able to tell the difference. Here's hoping that with the next installment Kong can get back to the solid story telling that we've come to appreciate and expect.

Aleron‘ got the skill

This is the second book he has written that has caused me to tear up. Maybe it’s just me, but the way he writes of certain characters death really hits me hard. I also enjoy that even now, the MC is still not completely overpowered and has limits he cannot surpass. I am big on community/town building books, but unfortunately this book didn’t focus on that at all, however I still feel that it fits the story well and I understand why it didn’t. I would definitely suggest this book and say that except for a few times when the skills list or items list took more than several minutes to get through that story is well paced and focused.

An absolutely fantastic adventure as always.

I never tire of this most fantastic series. Each character is so delightfully detailed and developed. When this newest entry to the series appeared on Audible I did not hesitate to grab it and I will not hesitate to grab the next installment when it comes out. Until then I will wait with baited breath for that day.

Aleron Kong thank you for writing this fantastic piece of literature.

Nick Podehl thank you for bringing this series to life and all the other series you have done you are easily my most favourite narrator.

Until the next installment I'll be here waiting.

Starting to get bad

Whole chapters of stat reading of repetitive stat descriptions. I must have fast forwarded at least 45 min of the book if you add all the parts up. not sure if I will continue with this series.

Enthralling story

Another worthy addition to the saga. Rictor's powers and struggles continue to grow and the story focuses on one major drama this time out. Kept me gripped till the end and sets the scene nicely for the next installment.

Awesome LitRPG awesome full stop

This was the 2nd such series of books I have tried and after listening to the first book I didn’t stop till the last.
Now the big problem is having to wait for the hopefully next saga.
The reading of the lists was occasionally long winded but the pace of the story makes you forgive it. I’m no lover of computer fantasy games but the story makes that lack of knowledge superfluous although a little understanding would be an aid to enjoyment but you soon get the hang of the terms.
The big question is when’s the next one ?

I’m loving this series

I bought the first chaos seed book on a whim. I’m so glad I did !!!.. I listen to these while I’m at work and it makes the hours fly by.. This is one of my favourite books in the series so far. The narration is brilliant and compliments the story so well with the range of character voices. Well done to the author for providing an exciting and fully engaging series . Thank you.

Nailed it, again!!

Would you listen to The Land: Raiders: A LitRPG Saga again? Why?

Yes, the book is one of the best in the series so far - have read and listened to the books multiple times they rock.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Land: Raiders: A LitRPG Saga?

The moment when Lord Richter decided to imbibe the chaos crystal.

Which character – as performed by Nick Podehl – was your favourite?

Nick rocked them all!

Knockout fights

Loved the series so far, so much so that I binge listened to it on audible in like 8 days. Can’t wait for the story to continue. I will say that I’m looking forward to Richter getting through a full fight without getting knocked out though, just saying lol

great ending... more pls.

Lots More DnD stuff in this one.
Morality conflict still immersive.
Character development still believable.
RPG mechanics still seemlessly integrated and exciting.
Riktor's spec capabilities growing a bit stale but promising... soon.

Chaotic fun continues with the Kong

While, for some of TheLand series I have thought there to be too many battles and not enough development of the Mist Village and interaction with the land beyond, I felt this a bit more balanced.
Some very interesting developments occur throughout this book and the same wry frat-boy humour remains (though the expletives seem to be used over frequently in this volume) but the icing on the cake has always been the performance...and the skilled delivery just keeps on keeping on! So knock yourself out and soak it aaaaaaall in.

Ear Candy!!

If you could sum up The Land: Raiders: A LitRPG Saga in three words, what would they be?

Enthralling, Exciting, Engaging

Who was your favorite character and why?

My man Rich-ter closely followed by Scion.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I wouldn't be able to describe a favourite scene as the i was enthralled the whole time.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes there were many but i guess people will need to read it to find their own moments.

Any additional comments?

This story not only satisfies my cravings for adventure but it has also helped me understand that every year on my birthday i dont get older, i just level up!!!

Thank You Dr Kong, these books have become my favourite series of all time. I cant wait for the rest of the series to come out.

another brilliant book

Aleron Kong has done it again with another fantastic book in this chain, mixed with the amazing skill of Nick Podehl, these books make you wish it was based off an actual game to play, one can only hope that someday a game will be made that follows the level of detail to all aspects of these books.

I’ve reread and re-listened to this series about 8 times this year.
It just keeps getting better.
Absolutely hanging out impatiently for the seventh and final book of the series.
Nick, your voices are perfect. I read them with your voices in mind now.
Aleron, thank you for exposing me to litrpg and making it an adventure!!
