Publisher's summary

The thrilling conclusion to the million-copy, Wall Street Journal bestselling Kingfountain series from Jeff Wheeler.

A devastating disaster has left the Forbidden Court in ashes, its fountains destroyed, and its magic at risk. It was destined as the site of Trynne Kiskaddon’s coronation as empress. Now, all Trynne can imagine is the roar of flames, the cries of Gahalatine’s people, and the smell of cinders in a city gone dark. Tragic as the threat to Kingfountain is, it’s nowhere near as foul as the treachery posed by Morwenna. Saboteur, conspirator, and full-blood sister of the king, she is prepared to set forth a wave of destruction that will eliminate everything that stands between her and possession of the throne.

But Trynne has her weapons, too - her magic, her resilience, her skills at intrigue, and especially, Fallon. The man who once swore his allegiance to Morwenna now stands by Trynne’s side as they venture into the unknown to protect those they love, reunite with a family scattered by diabolical forces, and safeguard a kingdom...as well as the destiny the Fountain has for each of them.

Great listen

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I always enjoy listening when the narrator changes the voice to show who is speaking. I some places the reader sounded stiff but overall a grand book

Awesome- but I have so many questions!

I’ve binged on this series. Having a 3 hour weekly commute at the minimum, having something to keep me awake is essential! These books have made me even look forward to my drives up the NJ Turnpike (imagine that). I’ve become very invested in the characters and adore the strong female leads. I’m looking forward to sharing allll of these books with my 9 year old daughter, who is currently on the Harbinger Series.

****spoilers below****

However, because I became so invested, I also saw a couple of glaring holes in the story that I SO wish were filled in! I’ve scoured the internet thinking maybe the holes are in my own understanding rather than in the story itself but found nothing. So instead I’m writing my first ever book review in hopes someone sees it and can discuss with me! The following are just a few off the top of my head:

(Note: please excuse the fact I don’t know the spelling of many of the characters names because I’ve never read them only heard them)

-Why did Trynne never address the problem of the fake ring that Captain Staeli had even though Dreagan had told her about it? Even without trusting the thief it would have been worth looking into it at least.

-why are the mandarin not explained any better than a bunch of wizrs that want to maintain power? That is too simplistic for such a detailed story. They are in both worlds and they wear a beetle ring but what’s their deal? They are surely more complex than just “the bad guy”.

-why didn’t Trynne use the magic staff she took from wizr she killed to save Brithanica? She used it to create the flood to fight off Gahalitine’s baby, she could have used it to drive the sea back as well. Surely that would have avoided a lot of trouble for herself and myrrden.

-what’s with this “fatal kiss” and the incurable plague? There was no information along with it and seemed like an easy out to let Trynne marry Fallon in the end. I thought it was very unsatisfactory and certainly and undeserved ending for Gahalitine, whom I would have liked to know better and surely would have been an interesting addition to the main cast.

-since when can someone read a book to become fountain blessed like Fallon did?!?! Whattt??
Magic is cool and everything but one reason I enjoy Wheeler’s writing is that there is an orderly way in which things happen and are explained, and general justification for what “the fountain” does. So in all these points he just seem to fall short or rush to a quick end.

Thanks for reading and for any insight I may have missed!

Amazing ending!

I am so happy with this ending that I don't know what to say! This book started out with my heart breaking and continued to get worse until I wanted to get rid of the villain myself. Then there was an interesting twist and I got to see a character from a different set of books Jeff wrote and I loved it. Things were so broken and then there was hope. The ending made me cry happy tears.

Excellent

Jeff Wheeler writes a spectacular fantasy story. He has created a world that feels real, almost tangible. And to top off his great stories he keeps them clean enough for the whole family. Well done.

Love Did Prevail

Throughout The Silent Shield and The Forsaken Throne, I wasn't sure how Trynne Kiskaddon was going to find a husband to marry. The twists and twines of the Author's pen was so deceiving keeping me reading the story till the end.

I was really involved with all the characters and really don't want to see this as the end, but hopefully, the Author will continue the story line.

I really enjoyed the whole series that I started on 9/14/17 beginning with the Blight of Muirwood, Covenant of Muirwood, and ending up with The Kingfountain Series. I don't agree with your publisher stating that the Kingfountain Series is the best yet, because I really enjoyed the other two series that led up to the Kingfountain Series.

I liked how the Author joined the two series together.

I have no idea what I am going to do now with my time. I hope Jeff Wheeler is working on a new book after The Poisoner's Enemy.

What an ending!

Man, this is a great series. And this was an amazing way to end it. I hated to see it end, but the tale was wrapped up in such a perfect way. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series, and this final installment was no different.

Fantastic finish!!!

Loved it, great finish for a great series. As a stand alone book not as good as the others, but great to draw you in to the ending of a great tale. Will leave you spell bound and bring you right along with the characters as they are happy, sad, angry, or courageous. Really liked how he linked the muirwood world with it to! So glad to finally have this, waited so long for it to come out!!! I hope it's not the last king fountain book, in not tired of this world yet!!!
