Publisher's summary

Long ago on the magical island of Fincayra, the last emperor of the dragons took revenge against the realm for the slaughter of his mate and their only offspring. Merlin's grandfather, a mighty wizard, saved the land by casting a sleeping spell over the dragon.

The dragon called Wings of Fire has awakened from his enchanted slumber. Prophecy dictates that only the descendant of the wizard who first defeated the dragon possesses the power to stop him. Before Merlin can go to battle, he must conquer his own fears by confronting the sorceress who has stolen his magical talisman, a talisman needed to stop Wings of Fire. But according to the prophecy, the one who destroys the dragon must also die.

Overall, great

still too many voices for me, but not as bad as the Seven Songs.

Love the story, but one oversight by Barron - deer do not have backwards knees!! their legs are like ours but with an elongated foot so their ankle is often confused with being a backwards knee. they still have knees that go the same way as ours.

amazing

Beautiful and enthraling story of loss, gain, and faith renewed. I could listen to it over and over. Now, on to the next chapter in the Merlin series. The Mirror of Fate.

Slowly but surely

I'm working my way through this series book by book, recalling moments and passages from when I was younger. I can't put it down, so to speak, and I'm enjoying every installment.
