Publisher's Summary

One key, one door, one man, one leap.

Alison Wescot inherited the antique store the day her mother died. It was nothing she wanted, but she couldn't part with it. The antiques inside were all she had left of her mother. She thought she knew every piece in the store, until one day she discovered a box with a key inside, along with a letter from her mother. A key to a door she never knew existed.

Lucas Azure is the leader of the kingdom's elite guard, a group of men whose sole purpose was to protect their territory and people. The youngest of the king's four children, he was also the deadliest. The men in his group followed him faithfully, never questioning his orders. When Alison appeared, he knew he had to protect her at all costs.

The day Alison walked through the door, her recurring dream became a reality. The man who always remained a mystery was standing before her. There were dragons flying overhead and a castle in the distance. She was now in the Azure Kingdom.

Decent Fantasy

Thought the narration was really good, she did a good job with the male characters as well as giving a strong sense of who main character is. This is kinda not my typical fantasy listen, but was OK. Story was pretty typical and straight froward, no real twist or turns. Main character was likable, the rest of the cast was fair.

So much potential in this fantasy romance...

The story starts so strong and intriguing with loss, suspense, adventure, a brand new realm to explore. I really enjoyed the story but the beginning indicates that this would be more of an adventure and it turns out to be more of a fantasy romance.

I wanted to know more about the Azure kingdom. The characters were not as well developed as I expected them. Because of how strong the first few chapters were, I expected more detailed story & Character development. There is so much potential and I truly enjoyed this book. I’m hoping the next book will have more descriptions and lots of details. There is so much left unexplored.

The narration was well done and brought the story to life.

If you like a light fantasy romance with main characters being fated to each other and a bit of adventure you should give this book a try. I’m looking forward to the next book. The concept is excellent and with more character development and descriptions of the Azure kingdom this could be a great fantasy series.

I’m so glad there are no major cliffhangers.

The Azure Kingdom

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started this book. The cover is what first drew my attention to the book and the description sounded intriguing. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. While the story is predictable for the most part there are a couple of little surprises along the way that keep things interesting. I wish it had been a little more unpredictable with a few more surprises though. Overall it's an entertaining, engaging and enjoyable listen as well as a good start to a series.

Even though it's a door and a key I couldn't help but picture it as a wardrobe cabinet connecting the two worlds.

I'm curious to see where the story will go from here. Kingdoms, Princes, Princess's, Kings, Dragons, a door between worlds and a magic key with a mind of it's own. Things could get interesting.

Good, but predictable characters.

Sarah Puckett did a really good job with the narration. Pleasant voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. The pace of her narration and the pauses fit the story and Alison's character. Her character voices were good. Both male and female. She was able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life through her narration. Very enjoyable.

Not my usual but I loved it!

I usually only listen to post apocalyptic type stuff but occasionally I like to stray for something different. This was a perfect distraction. Just enough romance, just enough fantasy. I will definitely continue the series. I swear I’ve heard the narrator before but I don’t have anything by her in my library. She did an excellent job.
There was a good bit of action & I can’t wait for the rest of the story!

Looking forward to the next book

I love the relationship between these two. The story was great but I felt the characters needed to be more defined and there need to be more details provided about what happens between the two kingdoms...and I wanted more dragons though I’m sure that’s in the next book

Really good

I really like this book it’s a true example of every girls Fairytale going to another kingdom finding her prince. I love Allison she’s a strong woman I love that in a female/ main character she’s not afraid to stand up for what she want even though she knows may not be what others want for her. Really great story definitely recommend

Poor narration

Might have been an okay book if it weren't for the strange sexual references and very poor reading. At times it was difficult even listen to because of pausing in the wrong places, inappropriate inflection, etc. It almost seemed as if the person reading did not read the book prior to recording.

Beautifully Enchanting and Compellingly Engaging

This story is the entry point into a realm of endless possibilities and the stuff of dreams. It is full of hope with an underlying flow of danger. All of the characters you discover are both intriguing and amazing. They will have you on the edge of your seat by sending this story into more twists and turns than you ever saw coming. Nothing is more refreshing than a story that truly takes on a life of its own.

I loved everything about this breathtaking book! It was exciting, heartwarming, and incredibly passionate. The plot will pull you in and capture your heart from the very beginning. Wild horses couldn't pull me away, but I would haven distracted by a wild dragon or two.

Enjoyable Fantasy Romance

After Alison's mother passes away, Alison finds an ornate skeleton key and a letter tucked away in an unused dresser. In the letter, her mother explains that she came from a different world, a world that can be accessed through a door with the key. She left that world when she was pregnant with Alison, and her father still lives in that world. But if Alison walks through the door into another realm, she might not ever be able to return.

Alison has no family left, and the thought that her father might be alive persuades her to use the key. She emerges in a beautiful land carpeted with flowers, a land she recognizes from her recurring dreams. And then she comes face to face with the man that had been starring in those dreams.

The author created an interesting world with the Azure Kingdom. A medieval kingdom with dragons, castles, dungeons, knights, and feuding kings. But the kingdom also had electricity, plumbing, and modern clothing, it made an interesting contrast. The descriptions of the kingdom and the dragons were vividly done and I could picture everything just as it happened.

I'd describe this as more of a romance than a fantasy, a lot of the focus is on Alison and Lucas and their instant attraction to each other. For Alison it's insta-lust, and for Lucas it's insta-love. I do prefer my romance to develop naturally, but insta-love can work if the characters are fleshed out enough for me to see why they're attracted to each other. There's some steamy scenes, but it's not overdone.

The narration was done well, Sarah Puckett's voice fit my image of Alison perfectly. She brought the story to life. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
