Publisher's summary

Nothing is simple anymore in the new undead world. Crossing a road, making tea, meeting new people, all can turn deadly in a twitch of an eye. For the Renegades, who are unarmed and hounded over half the state by ruthless bounty hunters, there's only one thing that they can say is simple: dying.

Surrounded by enemies and without help from the imprisoned Captain Grey, they flee from one trap into another with little but the wits of Jillybean and Neil's steadfast leadership to keep them alive. But is it enough?

Not by a long shot.

They have to dig deep and take wild chances to stay out of the clutches of the River King and they find out the hard way that there are consequences to rolling the dice against the devil.

Narrator Isnt Well

Amazing series and storyline! but narrator changed Jilllybeans voice to Ipes (the zebra) when reading this book... after splurging on the first 4 books this kills the series and makes it hard to become wrapped up in it...

Amazing Book

I have never been so into any book series in my life. I seen criticisms in the reviews of this book of how the same story is repeated over and over again....and that's absolutely ridiculous. The development of the characters, and destruction of, are the story. Of course getting into bad situations, and out of them are going to be repeated. The world is full of the no undead and the living often times more dangerous because of human nature, which the author does a good job of including in this series. What kind of book are you expecting to hear/read ffs?

JB is my favorite and some of the criticism of her in the reviews are ridiculous. Pseudo intellectuals who gripe about the grammar of a 7 year old who didn't finish 1st grade when the story is about a world full of zombies and a genius little girl who see's the world different.

If you like adventure and can suspend your own standards of what a "smart" person is for some entertainment and enjoy a good story, add this to your collection. If you want a "realistic" zombie novel, stop looking. Zombies don't exist 👍

In case you haven't noticed, most of this review is to bash an idiot who made a stupid review with a 2 star rating from his mother's basement. My review is down meow.....

This book made me laugh out loud, get angry, feel sad and pitiful, pumped with excitement, and had me feeling like I needed to turn it off because it legit made me nervous. Once you invest this much time into the series, you start to care about how the characters end up, and as anyone who's read the books before this one knows, no character is safe from death.

Loved as Jilly Bean goes down the rabbit hole

Thought it was a genius writing depicting a mind of a young girl shattering and splintering into fragments all while keeping me guessing where will this novel take me next. Totally enjoyable and riveting

Good book.

I’m sort of disappointed, not every hero lives through situations that most certainly should have killed them. The plot is drawn out, the the arc comes - you’re ready to hear EVERYTHING play out, but the book just ends too fast for my liking.

I love Peter Meriden , he definitely knows how to describe and paint a lush picture about a character’s plight. Gotta appreciate that!

You feel REAL anger in this book , at the antagonist and his lackeys. Literally, they’re trash and you think people would act smarter , better , in the apocalypse. Nope, greed and pride get in the way. Dumb.

Overall, I give this story a 5/7.

Fight!! Action!

I've followed this series the whole way an am transfixed. This installment into the series does not disappoint. I have to say the action and fighting is very welcoming. There is never a dull moment with the Renegades. I'm eagerly awaiting the next!
The narrator is also amazing.

I just bought 7 & 8 this story is so amazing and engaging. Peter Merideth's words and Basil's performance are out of this world. amazing story and great presentation. these are a continuous story that just goes in a different direction than standard Zombie fare. I came to this series from the spin off I guess you could say I am engrossed by this story line. I literally can't wait to buy the next books in the series. so good!

WOW!

Somehow, Peter has outdone himself once again. I just finished listening and I am SOOOO bummed out that it's over and I'm once again left wanting the next one to be playing right now! Great story, character development, and above all else, it keeps you on your toes with the feeling that no one is truly safe! The narrator did a great job with this one as well. Hopefully the next one comes out much sooner than this one did!

Love the direction the series is taking!

Would you listen to The Apocalypse Renegades again? Why?

If/when this series ends, I will undoubtedly revisit all of the novels again eventually.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Apocalypse Renegades?

To me it has to be the final encounter between Ernest and Jilly Bean, and Jilly's ensuing transformation (the emergence of Eve) after the "death" of Ipes. What is really going on with Jilly Bean? It is PTSD, schizophrenia, telepathy, something of a paranormal nature, or some combination of the above? I feel like Jilly has gradually been becoming the primary focus of these novels (rather than Neil) but it may be this particular moment that seals the deal and leaves no doubt. This series is now the Jilly Bean story, and unlike some others, I absolutely love it! So glad that I will be able to listen to Book 6 immediately after finishing 5 after waiting forever between books 4 and 5.

What about Basil Sands’s performance did you like?

Mr. Sands does a superb job at giving each and every character their own unique voice, even among some of the less important characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I'm never the type to want to listen to any book all in one sitting, as I like to try and draw it out a bit so that it lasts longer. :)

Any additional comments?

Unlike many other series (books, shows, movies, and everything else), I feel like this series is getting better with each installment. Now onto book 6, and hopefully I won't have to wait very long for book 7 after that!
