Fans who crave a strong heroine, plenty of swoon-worthy romance, and action that just doesn't quit will love Amber Argyle's second installment of the Fairy Queens series.
A fugitive from the king she refused to marry, Nelay ventures out to save her family from an invading army only to discover the fate of her entire nation rests on her shoulders.
But in defeat after defeat, Nelay begins to realize a bigger power is at play than that wielded by mere mortals. Only she can stand between the cinders of her once-great nation and the vengeance of a goddess.
I didn't care for this book as much as the others in the series. Even though the narrator did an awesome job, the story itself just didn't seem as interesting as the others. The author did an amazing job with the world building, characters, descriptions, etc. I just finished listening to the book and all I can really remember about it was it seemed like they were constantly in a battle and Neyla was being married off to different men. This book just didn't grab me and pull me in like the others did.
Wanted the Elizabeth Chadwick book of same title and totally wasted a credit on this. Mistook the narrator for author. Not a happy experience for a first time user!
