Publisher's summary

An epic of awesome power from Terry Goodkind, the second installment of the bestselling series A Sword of Truth

Kahlan has at last gained the one goal she had always thought was beyond her grasp...love. Against all odds, the ancient bonds of secret oaths, and the dark talents of men long dead, Richard has won her heart.

Amid sudden and disastrous events, Richard's life is called due to satisfy those treacherous oaths. To save his life, Kahlan must forsake Richard's love and cast him into the chains of slavery, knowing there could be no sin worse than such a betrayal.

Richard is determined to unlock the secrets bound in the magic of ancient oaths and to again be free. Kahlan, alone with the terrible truth of what she has done, must set about altering the course of a world thrown into war. But even that may be easier than ever winning back the heart of the only man she will ever love.

War, suffering, torture, and deceit lie in their paths, and nothing will save them from a destiny of violent death, unless their courage and faith are joined with luck and they find the elusive...Stone of Tears.

Epic edge: listen to more in the Sword of Truth series.

Egh ....

I love the series. The book is awesome, but I don't know why they couldn't bring back Sam Tsoutsouvas to do the narration. I got used to his inflections, and he seemed to be really into the story. This guy seems like he is just reading words off of the paper; sometimes it appears it's the first time he has seen the words. Where was the director?

The worst part? Zed. Sam Tsoutsouvas gave a great voice to Zed. Jim Bond turned him Irish for some reason. When I thought of Zed, I didn't picture him as Darby O'Gill.

Anyways, the story is still great, and if you can ignore the narration and just listen to the story for what it is, it's still a decent purchase.

Terrible narrator

Love this story, but it was so disappointing to listen to book 2 after the splendid narration of book 1.

Great Book, Jim Bond is a robot

I love this book. But Jim Bond sounds like an auto reader. Nothing you can do with such an old book but be for warned.

good book, poor narration

After the remarkable narration in book 1, it's disappointing to get a poor performance for the second book.

Great Story and Terrible Narrator

I only made it to chapter 8 before I could take no more!!! First book was so good I just spent credit without reading reviews on this one. Never do that again. Narrator was so bad I actually cringed. Don’t waste your credit on this one!!!

great book!

I love the story. it was even better than the first book. Although there were few negative reviews about narrator when I purchased, I think he does quite good job. I did enjoy the whole book very much.

He's done it again!

I was skeptical of the new voice of the story but once again I was thrown into Richard and Kailynn's world of magic, chaos, war and love. A definite must read!
