Publisher's Summary

The turning point for the entire Star Wars saga is at hand.

After years of civil war, the Separatists have battered the already faltering Republic nearly to the point of collapse. On Coruscant, the Senate watches anxiously as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine aggressively strips away more and more constitutional liberties in the name of safeguarding the Republic. Yoda, Mace Windu, and their fellow Masters grapple with the Chancellor's disturbing move to assume control of the Jedi Council. And Anakin Skywalker, the prophesied Chosen One, destined to bring balance to the Force, is increasingly consumed by his fear that his secret love, Senator Padme Amidala, will die.

As the combat escalates across the galaxy, the stage is set for an explosive endgame: Obi-Wan undertakes a perilous mission to destroy the dreaded Separatist military leader General Grievous. Palpatine, eager to secure even greater control, subtly influences public opinion to turn against the Jedi. And a conflicted Anakin, tormented by unspeakable visions, edges dangerously closer to the brink of a galaxy-shaping decision. It remains only for Darth Sidious, whose shadow looms ever larger, to strike the final staggering blow against the Republic, and to ordain a fearsome new Sith Lord: Darth Vader.

Great book for Star Wars fans!

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I have seen all 6 movies several times. I was looking into Star Wars books telling stories not told in the movies, but except for a couple of them, all Star Wars books available as audiobooks are abridged versions. I know you lose lots of the details in these versions, so out of curiosity I bought this one, even though I had already seen the movie. I was very surprised with the quality of the narration, and the quality of the story as well. The book adds lots of insights and details that would've been impossible to include in a 2 hr movie. Special effects are good, but nowhere excessive, and actually help in visualizing the story. Overall, I'm very happy I bought it!

"Impressive! Most Impressive!"

Any Star Wars fan will know, the title of this review is a quote from 'The Empire Strikes Back', spoken by Darth Vader during his first battle with Luke Skywalker. \"Impressive\" just doesn't do this book justice though, it is utterly superb.

The Jedi battle with Dooku on the separatist flagship, the deepening darkness on Coruscant and in The Republic, the rising fear within Anakin Skywalker, the twisted inner-workings of the minds of Count Dooku, Darth Sidious, and General Grievous....All these things (and more) feed your imagination, and open-up the Star Wars Universe, like never before.

On top of this, the narration is masterful, almost an art, which brings the story to life in such a way, you could almost be there.

Amazing book, and well worth buying. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and wil do so again, I have no doubt of that :-)

Superbly written and performed

I thoroughly enjoyed the Revenge of the Sith novelisation. The writing was superb, almost poetic. It greatly improved the dialog from nearly all scenes of the film, and gave a much better insight into the character's feelings, and motives. Anakin's fall is much more understandable, although one glaring omission was his perspective on killing the Jedi and younglings, which was disappointing. The extra material not covered by the film was also sound, particularly the beginnings of the Rebel Alliance, and the conflict between Anakin and Padme's political views. I wish this had been the basis for the film, and not the other way around.

Better than the film in every way!

I had heard of how the novel improves on the Revenge of the Sith film and after listening to this audiobook I now know why.
Everything from the narrator's performances, to how Matthew Stover fills in plot holes and clarifies character motivations to the great use of music and sound effects straight from the source material. A must have for Star Wars fans or for anyone who simply wants a great story!

Adds so much depth to the story!

This made the disjointed story make so much more sense, and gave much more detail to the fall of Skywalker. Amazing performance from Jonathan Davis, also.

One criticism, the end meeting between Obi Wan and Anakin could have been better. The book added to dialogue and made these sections so much better but this one scene was quite disappointing.

This is great. Loved every second of it.

This audiobook was well worth the cost. It fixes many of the issues of the movie and makes the plot and the characters far more compleling and complex.

A great tie-in!

well written and fast paced. Great characterisation and some deeper insight into the universe. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend this to any fan of star wars.
Vader's transition to the dark side and all the scenes with Sidious were memorable, especially the fight scene with the Jedi masters. much more than what is shown in the movie. it also explains lightsaber fighting in greater depth and fleshes out secondary characters fans love such as Mace Windu.
Of all the star wars books I've read this has to be in my top 3.

Better than it's predecessor

Better than book II, this volume fleshes out both characters and scenes giving the reader a much better ride. Some of the sound effects broke my concentration and interfered with the narrative, lessening my enjoyment of the story.

better than the film... just.

As is well known, Revenge of the Sith the film was problematic to say the least. This novelisation does the story more justice, attempting to delve deeper into Anakin's decent. Although far from hole-less, Matthew Stover has done an excellent job at giving voice to Anakin's inner turmoil and the general plot of the story. I recommend this to all the hardcore Star Wars fans.
